  1. Thanks, eman! Thats my biggest hold up right now is returning to work and recovery. Anyone else offer me any advice? Also, anyone have stories of having to return to work but couldn't wear a hat?
  2. I wish it were that easy. It's not so much what others think that bothers me, its me being happy with the way I look, and I haven't been in a long time. I just want to be content so I can move on and concentrate on other things and people in my life and not just be depressed about my hair all the time. and $9200 is probably an amount that I could do without having to get a loan which would be awesome! We'll see. Any other advice for me? I've seen guys younger and with less hair loss than me getting HTs. I thought my front is along pretty far and wouldn't be a bad idea to get an HT. My thoughts are just real scattered right now
  3. Thanks for the honest response eman. I have closely followed your story and you have done awesome so far. I really can't see me waiting any longer though. I'm at a complete point of breaking. My hairloss has plagued me for so long and it has finally gotten to the point where I can't function normally in my life. The thought of waiting years for a HT just makes me want to collapse. (Hope that wasn't too dramatic, but it's true) That being said, I'm still being extremely cautious. If I was jumping the gun I probably wouldve had one a while back. And you say 12,000 for 3000 grafts? I thought that was in Canadian dollars... so that would be cheaper US, correct? Also, is there a way I can put so much down and finance the rest? eman, youre probably right that I could wait as far as loss, but at the same time, I CANT wait Blah, hairloss is awful
  4. Hi guys. I'm sure a lot of you have read my story. 23 almost 24. I plan on sending in pics to Dr. Rahal this week for a consult as I would like to get an HT in the near future. Now starts some questions: Generally, how long in advance do you have to book an HT with him? I'm afraid that he is going to be booked until late in the year, as I was hoping around April-ish. Also, I'm not positive how many grafts I'll need, so cost is up in the air still. How will a finance plan work? I can afford to put a large chunk down, but if I end up needing to spend $10k, I can't just drop that out of nowhere. Still not sure what to do about work. I just went back today so hopefully soon I can discuss vacation time once I see when HT is possible. Thanks for any input guys. This site is the best!

  6. kev2009 - first off. This guy does not even know what causes male pattern baldness. He keeps saying that it is stress and that is simply not true. Male pattern baldness is genetic. Stress can cause some hair loss, but a totally different type. I cannot believe this guy is actually convincing people to put urine on their heads. This is a hoax.
  7. I will try to work out some time around holiday like that. I guess the hardest part is going to be if I have to shave the front or not. If not, I think I will be able to get away with it. If not, then I'll have to buzz my whole head and it'll be more obvious. How does a doc decide if the recipient has to be completely shaved or not?
  8. Yeah Eman, those are looking awesome. I'm really liking the way the scar came out. You really cant make it out at all when you buzz down. That gives me a lot of hope
  9. lost my swagger- Thanks for the input. I wish I could get more time off. Im aiming for two weeks but its hard to do. As I go on in my career it'll be harder and harder to get time off. I hope to get 2 weeks. I think I can at least conceal it quite a bit, maybe? Any tips from guys who have had to go back to work soon after HT? and i know the first 3 months aren't fun, but who can realistically go around without a hat for that long? I'm only 23 and couldn't pull it off. I wish I was still working my old job and going to school as far as my procedure size, I have no idea yet. I was hoping someone could give me an idea. I will find out for sure when I start consulting more with docs
  10. This is kind of a two parter. If you choose a financing option. Is this figured out way in advance of the transplant? Do I book a date first, get a quote, and figure a financing plan? I'm lost on how to go about this. Second, I will be traveling to get a HT (no matter who I decide on). I won't be able to stay in that place long enough for staple/stitches removal. Where do I get this done? Do you have an appointment booked before transplant? I'm just trying to get all the technicalities (sp?) figured out here. Thanks!
  11. Thank you guys for the advice. I will absolutely tell no one at work. My main concern is getting enough time off. I know i can get at least a week. My head is spinning at the thought of this finally being a reality!
  12. Thanks eman! I guess the scar is my biggest concern but looking at your pics.. wow! How long after the transplant do they perform tricho? I was hoping to be able to get down to a #4 but you are even better than that! Im thinking strip is the way to go for me considering financial/# of grafts needed.
  13. I posted this in another section, sorry for the double post but I wasn't sure where to put it... Hey guys, it is very hard to choose a doc but I think I have narrowed it down to Dr. Rahal or Dr. Feller. Dr. Rahal really struck me with all the positive buzz and amazing hairlines. Dr. Feller also does amazing work. I'm worried about the scar for strip. How bad do these scars look when you buzz your hair down? I've seen some guys where they are almost invisible, and some where they are not. Sometimes I almost feel like I should do FUE but the sessions are much smaller and very expensive. I'm stuck and need advice. Also, if anyone could see my pics and make an estimate about # of grafts I would need, I would greatly appreciate it

  15. Billydett- hopefully you just need some more time for growth. How many grafts and where? Also, I'm proud of you for that avatar. It's hard to stick with those boys nowadays
  16. celeb hair vet - I can't just quit my job or leave for an extended period of time. I don't plan on telling anyone I had a hair transplant, but I can at least try hard to disguise it. Don't you think quitting or leaving my job is a little extreme? Anyone else comment on this going back to work issue? I plan on a HT around March and will see how much time I can get off work.
  17. Any comments, guys? A few things to add: I know that I will eventually need another transplant for further back and crown, but I need the front/hairline fixed now. I am confident I can keep behind that pretty good for years to come. I need a good hairline to shape my face. My face just does not look right without being framed.
  18. MikeTheDane- I was referring to you. WHen my hair is buzzed down and has no concealer it looks similar to your pre-ops. haha I'm so jealous that you already went through with it! Does anyone have any feedback/suggestions after looking at my pics. I'm pretty much at the point where this is definite and want to get it all figured out by New Years (this is my goal). I want to bring my hairline slightly forward and fill in the sides which have receded. I also want to thicken up the front. How many grafts do you guys think I'll need? I'm almost positive I Will be able to pay for this out of pocket which will be amazing. Still can't decide on the doctor. So many impressive results and stories. Here are some celebrities who have close to what I'm aiming for, so you can get an idea... 19. Thanks Bill! I think I have a lot more questions to be answered before I narrow down. I've become very knowledgeable on transplants, but now that its down to me really getting to it, its kind of hard to figure out where I should start. haha this is tough
  20. Hey Charlie, I use concealers everyday. I can't leave the house without them. And those pics even make my hair look a bit better than it is. Even with concealers my front is shot.
  21. Here are my pics! http://hair-restoration-info.c...466060861/m/47910973
  22. Here is my hair as of now. No transplant yet. Sorry guys I didn't want to make a separate post for my photos. How do I just make a link to the album in my original post? BTW please read my original post down further. It's titled "Ready to begin my epic journey"
  23. Thanks for all of the replies you guys. You are awesome. I am going to keep this updated regularly and should have pics by tomorrow as I do not have time tonight. I have quite a bit of money saved up so I am not too worried about that as of yet. May apply for a loan but haven't figured that far into it yet. I just dont know what else to do as I cannot take anymore of the mental strain that my hair loss has caused me. It is a handicap and is holding me back from living my life. Eman- I would say my hair loss isn't as advanced as yours yet was but will be there shortly. My hairline has receded probably as far as it is going to and the front tuft are just a few thin wispy hairs that are getting harder and harder to conceal with toppik. and as I have said I seem to have maintained the crown and top fairly well. They are still thinning but don't look much worse over the years. I guess my main concern now is recovery/concealing so I can get back to work. Sometimes I wish I would have done this before I started my career. haha Thanks again guys and any other comments would be greatly appreciated. I will probably have about 1,000 more questions
  24. Hello everyone. I don't even know where to start. I'm 23 years old. Been losing since about 17ish I think, but didn't realize it was MPB until 18. I have blonde hair and it has gotten bad. Strong receding hairline, thinning in front. My crown and top are thinning as well but I've seemed to keep those stable over the years with treatment. When I was 19 I jumped on propecia for about 1 1/2 years. It thickened up and worked well. I quit for financial reasons at the time. That summer I jumped on Minox and have been on it since. I restarted fin back in May, and it hasn't done anything for me. My front area is awful. I just have wispy blonde hairs coming up and no hairline. It has completely destroyed me. I was always known for my hair. Blonde, thick hair, crazy styles. I can't leave the house without toppik piled on my head. My social life is slowly getting more and more destructed as time goes on. I have every reason to be happy. I just graduated school last year. Working a good job at a large agency. Living at a nice place with a friend. Lots of family, friends. But I can't enjoy it anymore. I'm miserable. I feel old. Can't look in the mirror. It seems all of my friends are youthful nw1s and I'm just looking to be about 40. I can't deal with this emotional pain anymore. So I set a goal for myself. By Holidays next year I want to be closer to being happy with my hair/appearance. My face needs to be framed in order for me to look good. That brings me to being ready for a hair transplant. You guys are amazing and the support on this site is awesome. I've been reading this and other forums for years. I will be posting photos shortly and am looking forward to all your support. So far I'm thinking along the lines of Feller, H&W, Rahal or some doc like that. I know many will say 23 is too young (actually kinda close to 24), but I need this done. I'm constantly in a state of "waiting" for my hair to get better, but it isn't. I have many, many questions so I guess I can start with a few in my intro. How do you guys finance it? I have quite a bit in savings but wouldn't say I can just dish out 10,000 right away for one. I could definitely pay it off though. I;m thinking the most I could get off from work is a week. Will that be enough? I can't wear hats at work, so that will be a challenge. My hairloss reminds me a lot of Eman and that 22 year old guy who had 2 hair transplants. Id say we all have very similar patterns and color. Sorry for blabbing so much and thank you so much to anyone who reads this whole thing. I'm ready to begin
