I am interested to know of the temporary shockloss the regular posters on here experienced when having their transplants.

I am really concerned about this as my date it becoming closer and I am unable to wear a hat to work.

A lot of people have mentioned that their shock loss % was quite high , but in all of these casesI have noticed that they have had many grafts planted. I presume this will make a difference as its quite a big trauma to the scalp. Also, I am presuming a number of gratfs in a small area will have a negative affect ?

I may only be having approx 2000 grafts throughout , so im hoping this wont have much of an effect. I would aslo of been on Propecia for 8 months and am willing to shave my hair.

Can anyone advise on their experience and on the chance of having no shockloss ???

My hair when grown out a little is only thin through the middle , not through the entire scalp, my doc has said to go for just the front as he think the meds will work for me. We havent decided on Fue or FUT as yet as im having the full consoltation the day before. He has only seen photos at this stage. Im not too worried about the scar as I have a scar at the back of my head anyway and I can just say that im going for a scar revision. Im just really concerned about the temp loss.

Im hoping for 2000 throughtout the middle , so nothing too drastic.

My Doctor is Marwan Saifi. I have read quite a few good reports from people on this site , nothing to the level of the paying docs , but still enough for me to be confident. Im in contact with a few of them now and have been for many months.

Now my transplant date is getting closer I am really panicing about shockloss as I cannot wear a hat to work.

I was of the understanding that Propecia greatly reduces the changes of shockloss. I presume now, from the above, that this is only for permanent rather than termporary shockloss.

Can anyone anyone else give me an indication of what % of loss of hair is normal for

temporary shockloss, as Bonkerstonkers 80% seems very high. I would not know what to say to my work 65 office work colleagues !!!

To be honest, its matters quite a bit to me as I have quite a lot of hair at the moment and I am unable to wear a hat to work as I work in an office.

Starting to have second thoughts !!!

Just out of interest , what have you told people as its clear from the photos/blog you have that something has happened. Unless you are able to wear a hat at work ???

With the amount of hair I have I was hoping to get away with nobody noticing, but with shockloss of 80 % plus , obviously this will not be possible.

Bonkerstonker - I think you have now put me off my hair transplant. I was not expecting that level of shockloss !!! Is that normal? or do you think its because of the amount of gratfs you had. Im really panicing now !!!!

Were you shaved down ?? this sould make it look worse ?

I know Shock Loss has been mentioned so many times on here but can anyone advise whether they think a grade 2 will be sufficient enough to help reduce the chances of shock loss. I do have quite a bit of hair and I dont think any of the remaining hairs are minaturized. Not to my limited knowledge anyway.

I know there are other factors which my future transplant doc has informed me, but this is one thing I forgot to ask.

I was wondering if any surgeons would consider doing work on someone with patchy hair loss , scattered on completely different parts of the scalp ??

Im sure this is what will happen, but i would prefer to have it done in one go. But it does make sense to see if the meds works. Guess im just being a bit impatient and greedy, but who isnt !!!

Spanker - Im going with Dr Saifi in Poland. He did say to me that Ideally that I should be on Propecia for a year, It will be 8 months by the time I have surgery.

Also, he has only seen photos which show my hair in a worse state than the photos I have included here as my hair is a bit longer. I will post some more photos on here in a week or so when the hair is longer, which shows in thinner in the middle areas.

Im due to have the consoltatiton just before the surgery but I know he has mentioned to other patitents to have the work done in the front third , and see how the Propecia responds in the middle and the crown.

Future Ht Doc - Many thanks , ive had a go on this , but cant really get it to the exact ares I want, although its a good indication.

Does anyone else have any comments ?? Looking to see if 3000 grafts / 6600 hairs will be enough to give me the look of a full head of hair

No, I first stumbled across it doing a search on the Internet. I dismissed it straight away as it just didnt seem right to me as it was in Poland and ?2950 for 2000 grafts. However, when I came on here I noticed somebody had gone for a transplant in Poland and I recognised the name. So I sent an email on their website directly.

Since then I have noticed a few others who have recommeded DR Saifi highly.

The communication so far has been excellent and Im am convinced everything will go well.

I originally had planned to go with Dr Farjo , but he is very expensive and Im not convinced the results will be too different. The difference of ?5000 in cost(3000 grafts) is substancial.

Well , I am due to have surgery with him on the 1st March after being in contact with about 7 people from this forum. All who speak highly of him. I have had a lot of corresponance with DR Saifi who has been excellent, he comes across very well on the phone ans has personally answered all emails.

Obviosuly he doesnt have the following like many of the Doctors recommended on this forum , but you have to start somewhere.

For references contact : Portchester Pirate , Jonnyboy, Hairtohelp2, RLC26 , Almighty. Im sure they will give you an honest opionion of Dr Saifi.

I will also give a full report of my experience with regular updates.

Still undecided at the moment but I'll go with whatever the Docs says. I dont need a hell of a lot and I like to wear my hair quite short , so possibly FUE. But the cost is a lot more.

?6750 compared to ?3500 for 3000 grafts - Still cheap compared to other quotes ive had.

Dont go. I went to the London brance a few years ago. Complete waste of time and money.

They still contact me now for "special discounts"

They have no idea and are just a bunch of money grabbers!!!

Basically they offer Minoxidil , Laser and wigs.

Most of the people close to me think Im a bit of an idiot as they have not noticed the fact that im losing hair.

At the moment I havent decided on what procedure FUT or FUE . I will discuss this with the surgeon at the pre op consultation.

My doctor will be Marwan Saifi who is based in Poland. He doesnt require a shave on the recipient area. From mermory I think he said a similar thing to me as DR Farjo, where he prefers a little lenghth as a guide from the native hair.

Im not too worried about the redness , just the scar really being the main issue.

I suppose the good thing is that I already have a scar at the back of my head which a lot of people have seen , so I may just tell people Im having a scar reduction, but I dont want to draw too much attention to it.

Im afraid I cant wear a hat at work as I work in an office.

I know this has probably been mentiined so many times, but I will ask anyway.

Is 11 days enough recovery time for people not to notice that ive had a hair transplant ??

I still have quite a lot of hair so Im hoping that this will cover any evidence of the transplant. Ive heard that the scabs tend to fall out between days 8-10 , so with the existing hair I have , I hope that I will be ok ??

Regarding the scar - Once the stiches have been taken out, whats the lowest grade you realistically think I can get away to cover the scar (based on average density, although I think im more)

I would like to see some close ups of the scar. As I mentioned before all the closures ive seen from patients of Dr Saifi have been excellent. Im always interested in seeing more though, as Im due for mine in just over 2 months.
