  1. Your pictures look really good and take me back six weeks ago to when I got mine. I think we must all have taken exactly the same shots ;-) I agree that when you consider that Dr Lorenzo does all the work himself, it takes a bit of the sting out of the price. I'm positive you're going to get a fantastic result and congratulations for taking this huge step forward.
  2. Shedding like mad, I'm just going to have to tough it out. I got it cut but didn't get the top done so looking a bit tufty ;-) I'm sure you're going to get a great result, just a pity you're getting all the shedding at once. I might be seeing things but I might have a little bit of early growth...I can see little dark hairs coming through, just a shame that the shedding is outweighing the growing! Glad it's going well for you, great news mate.
  3. Thanks Hariri. Thanks Johnny, definitely liking the buzz. Glad you're coming out of the ugly duckling stage, think I'm either hitting it now or it's about to hit me. I'll look to you for inspiration ;-)
  4. Hi all, I had taken pictures at 4 weeks but my daughter took them on my phone and they were upside down - for some reason the picture viewing programme won't turn them back the right way! So here are a few at 5 weeks (taken 30 mins ago) but in different light - still quite bright but not natural light. I have a few sore parts and some itching, they aren't spots as far as I can see but seem to be quite red. Lots of shedding so far, losing large amounts of short hair with a kink at one end (which I assume is the grafted hair) when washing it in the morning...but it still looks good to me so I can't wait until the shedding stops and the growth begins Anyway, here are the photos.
  5. Hi Number47, I just got it cut down to a number one then graduated up to a number two at the back and sides and you can't see any scarring at all. So I think you'd be safe to go to a number one without the scars being visible. There is still redness visible but that will get better with time.
  6. Hi Fuethatwasclose, I'm doing fine thanks, been shedding a lot but still coping ok with it looking a bit thinner. Got my first haircut yesterday but only got the sides and back done, never did anything that was near the grafts. Took it back down to a number 1 and 2 and I'm really liking the very short look. Don't know if it's because of the new found confidence but I can't stop eating! That'll be the next thing I'll have to tackle ;-) I took some pictures last week at week 4 and I'll try to put them up tomorrow for you to see.
  7. Yeah, sounds good. In the article I read the hairs lasted for six weeks but they say the results should be different on human subjects. Early days but seems to be a lot of coverage (no pun intended) by the media. Any exposure and information regarding hairloss is helpful, and the more media coverage there is will hopefully do even more to lessen the stigma relating to hairloss/transplant surgery etc.
  8. Hi all, This story was aired on UK tv last night on the ITV news channel. I'm fairly sure I've read about this research before and some (most) of you probably have as well, but I thought I'd post it because they seem to have made some progress and it's caught the attention of the media over here. I'm not naive enough to think that this will definitely be successful or even that it would be available in the next couple of years (we all know how often we've had the cure dangled in front of us that would be available in 5 years). But it's good to hear any positives from people researching this field. I hope some of you find it interesting. Radical new therapy to tackle baldness is just a hair
  9. Hey Johnny, That's all the scabs off now and have noticed that I've lost a few hairs now as well. I knew it was coming and I know it's very early days. Still pleased I did it and absolutely no regrets so far. I wouldn't mind if the recipient area actually retained some of its new darker colour because it makes the area look like it has more coverage. That works really well if the hair is cut short in my opinion. Maybe clinics should combine micro scalp pigmentation and grafting as a package, just a thought.
  10. Hi all, It's now been two weeks to the day since I had my first day of surgery. Most of the scabs have come off, only some at the front remain. I worked from home for the first week and started back in the office this week. Nobody noticed any signs of surgery. The most that people noticed was that I just had really short hair. Even the people who knew what I was getting done were amazed at how little there was to see in respect of signs of the procedure. An added bonus for me was that quite a few people commented that I suited the short hair and that it made me look younger! Bonus. The grey is coming back again so that compliment will probably be short lived. Anyway, here are a few photos of the progress so far.
  11. Hi Peacebuddy. Glad I'm helping some people. He never mentioned if he uses beard hair but I would suspect as he's a very progressive surgeon that he would utilise any resources he could. If you contacted the clinic they would certainly be able to tell you. Keep us posted.
  12. Hi Gotime. You're coming from LA, that's great. It's usually the other way around. They give you big pads to put on the pillow but it would be worth bringing a cheap or old pillow case to put on the pillows wherever you are staying, just in case the pads slip, it can be a bit messy the first couple of nights. Don't bother bringing a hat for after the op because they tell you not to wear one for obvious reasons. Bring shirts that button up as well rather than t-shirts so that you don't have to pull them over your head after surgery. I'll try to think of anything else that would be useful for you :-)
  13. Hi Gotime. Fantastic to hear that you're going for it, great choice in surgeon and clinic. Dr Lorenzo gave me a couple of choices when it came to placement of the hairline, he drew two separate lines on my forehead. One was my hairline as it was and the other was the lower option. I opted for the lower hairline. He also gave the option of whether I wanted the hairline to be fairly straight or slightly pointed, like a widow's peak. I chose the slightly pointed one as I thought it was more natural. He will listen to you but he is very experienced and because he's done so many procedures, he is very confident in what he thinks it should look and what will look natural. I have also read that he can be conservative when it comes to the hairline, but he used a tape measure and showed me that the hairline he created was exactly how it should be based on distance from eyebrows, bridge of nose and from the corners to the eyebrows (of course everybody's face shape is different but there must be some kind of average). One thing I will say is that he packs very densely in the hairline which should give great results. I'm really glad that my post has been helpful to you and feel free to ask me anything else you want.
  14. Johnj, I've actually got a big head (usually have problems getting hats to fit me) and my hairline was always high. If you go for surgery, you can get the hairline lowered a bit. That way you might be ok with having it shaved. Don't get me wrong, I fully expect some ignorant person at work to come out with an inconsiderate comment or two. People can be harsh sometimes.
  15. Good advice Johnnydrama. I'll give that a try tonight.
  16. Working from home this week. I was supposed to be getting longer working from home but looks like that won't happen. To be honest, I think I would rather get back before all the grafts start to fall out. That way people will be used to me having my head shaved close and the grafts falling out might not be as noticeable to people. I'm actually quite liking the shaved look, something I never thought I would. Only thing is I don't want people at work coming up and rubbing my head. That's one week today since the procedure began and I've obviously still got a mass of scabbing and not a lot of feeling at the recipient site. The donor is not as bad and some scabs are coming of as I wash my hair. I won't be wearing a hat though although that was my initial plan.
  17. Hiya mate. Redness definitely getting less, itching like a good 'un though. Was cringing looking at the before photos though, harsh light and no putty to hold it all together.
  18. Thanks Mick. Looks worse so close up and brightly lit!
  19. Hi Stinger99, thanks. I can't wait to see how it goes as well. It was 12000 pounds.
  20. Cool, I'll start back on it from tomorrow then Johnny. Thanks
