  1. I've been using Propecia (as well as Rogaine twice daily and Nizoral 3 times a week) since Late march now, originally on 1mg for around a month (until i noticed sexual side effects, mainly complete loss of sexdrive and ability to get a real erection). Since then, I was on a 1/4mg daily dosage, which seemed to work ok, my sexdrive had returned, though if i'm honest I think it is less frequently occurring. However, recently I've found that my sexdrive has depleted again, as well as the ability to get a full or spontaneous erection. As well as this, my hair loss hasn't been slowing down either, the hairline is still receding. I really don't know what to do, I feel hopeless. 22, losing hair and can't even take the medication to halt DHT. I'm worried that if i stop, I'm going to lose a lot of hair in the next few months.

What do you all suggest I do?

I've been considering switching to Saw Palmetto daily instead, but I've read a lot about it and it doesn't seem to be that useful for hair, even though it tackles DHT. :/

  2. Rich, while your hairline may have receeded just a tad, all in all your hair looks very good. You can always see scalp with wet hair, and it will always look thin when wet, so don't let that bother you. I'm glad to see you are being proactive and using the Big 3! Try and get that Finasteride dosage up to a full 1 mg. You are doing right in tapering the dosage up slowly from a very low dose. Spex says using that method works well.

I am just really hoping it doesn't get any worse for a few more years, I can only keep doing what I'm doing currently though, I guess. I don't think I will be able to get my dosage up to 1mg because when I was originally taking that, my sex drive completely disappeared, after a few weeks. we will see. I've actually been in a deep depression for the last month or so though, maybe that also has something to do with it :/

  3. I am taking Fin (1/4th mg but going up to 1/2 to see how the side effects go), and I'm definitely not hoping to have a HT with my current situation, though I just wanted some advice and input from others :) What are these awesome characteristics? And I live in the UK, but am a bit of a hopper, I've been living in Australia for the last year.

  4. This video was recorded a coupe weeks back, I wanted to do a high quality, honest video rather than lots of little photos.

If you guys could check it out and give me some response, I'd be very grateful. Also, apologies for the toplessness, haha. I should probably start working out, else my hair won't be the only thing concerning me.

I've annotated the video pretty thoroughly, so I won't have to explain too much here.

  5. Firstly, I know this probably belongs more so in the Other discussions forum, but I really want some answers, and also it does involve propecia...

So I was told earlier today that I may have gonorrhoea. Well, it was a girl I was sleeping with for 2 months(March and April 2012), she went back home to germany, met a boy and now a few weeks later they are dating, and she tells me this:

    Her:

I really don't want to do this but we have to talk about sth serious...

it seems like you infected me with gonorrhoea... my boyfriend just told me that he was at a doctor today and he has gonorrhoea and then I googled it and well I had all the symptoms while I was in Perth with you and it could also be the explanation for your pain while we had sex so you should better go to a doctor... just wanted to tell you that

She then later goes on to say that shes being tested in the morning, and that she may not have it herself... but I'm worried incase I do have it, she's the only person I've had unprotected sex with in over 2 years (last time was with my ex, who was a virgin), so If I did get it and didn't notice, then I've had it a LONG time. either that, or she gave it me. But, I don't have any symptoms at all, which is what is bothering me. Anybody got any experience here? Should I be worried, if I do have it?

Here is the propecia part, I'm going to try and get tested within the next few days, will I have to tell them that I am taking propecia?

Thanks guys, and thanks admins if you let this stay in the drugs forum :)

  6. Somebody made a comment on a youtube video, and it got me thinking.

It was something along the lines of "his grandfather started balding in his 40s, then his son in his 30s, and now he is balding in his 20s. Kids will start balding in their teens or younger"

Is there much or any truth in this? Kind of puts a negative slant on my already down mood today :/

  7. So I am using the 2% twice a week, I will wash my hair with regular shampoo, rinse, and then apply the Nizoral, only to the top section of my head, leave for 3 minutes and then rinse out.

I am finding that the smallest blob (maybe the size of two average sized peas) from the bottle can lather up a decent amount to cover the top of my head, but I am just worried that I am being too reserving and not applying enough. what would be the correct amount to apply?

Also, is it worth shampooing 3 times a week, or?

  8. be wary when taking it. The '2%' thing is something that I am very doubtful of, I think that it is much higher than that, but don't throw in the towel if you do experience decrease in sex drive or any other sides.

I was getting sides from 1mg, but am having no problems with 1/4 daily, I am planning to jump to 1/2 mg daily in a month.

  9. Cody - Young - Kevtom,

People are saying you're young because we know MPB is progressive. Our point of view is this - you get a HT and your donor area/capability diminshes (you don't have as much to give for future HT). Right now there are two drugs approved by the USFDA for treating MPB. Finasteride (Propecia/Proscar) and Minoxidil. When you do more research on MPB you will find that it is caused by DHT. Finasteride reduces the production of DHT while Minoxidil stimulates hair to grow. I had a 2 inch bald spot on my crown at 22, I feel your PAIN!! If Propecia was around at the time, then I would have started it and never stopped. The Minoxidil usually cases some shedding when you first start using, I didn't know it was natural and stopped it, the resulting permanent loss was intense. I went through the next 4 years trying ever snake oil out there. I even wasted $4000 on this laser light treatment which didn't regorw any new hair. Bottom line is - I am encouraging you to try the medicinal approach first. At the very least this will stabilize your hair loss and minimize the amount of donor hair you will have to use for HT.

Think of it this way - if right now you have a 2 inch bald spot and it will take 1000 grafts (NOT HAIRS) to fill it, and you only have 4000 possible grafts for use for the rest of your life, do you really want to waste that thousand right now??? You probably said yes (I would have said yes at 22) - Now here's the heart breaker MPB is PROGRESSIVE. So you get the HT in your 2 inch bald spot and use up 1000 of your 4000 grafts and in 2 years you now have an outer ring around where the original 2 inches was, and guess what it will take another 2000 grafts to cover it. Now add in the fact that your temples are almost completely bald, your hair line is an inch further back, and your mid scalp is getting thinner... What are you gonna do then??? I am not trying to tell you what to do, only trying to paint a real life picture for you, my real life picture! It scared the HELL out of me!

I have only heard of the Follicular Unit grafting for the last 4 years, I don't know if was around when my balding started. I would have done it back then but I WOULD HAVE REGRETTED IT!! Technology is advancing rapidly, remember it was 1998/99 when Propecia was approved by the FDA. I hear alot of talk about cell regeneration testing and see someone talking about a newer more proficient way of doing HT's. Please consider the medicinal approach! Give it a year to start working for you. You never know what else is gonna come out in the next year or two and it would be a shame to waste any of your donor area right now. I don't really know what you mean by a hair system, is it a hair peice?? It doesn't sound to exciting to me, sounds like your are doing more long term damage to your scalp.

Last thing - do alot of research on this site, READ READ READ!! Go do some consults, get the advise from doctors who do ONLY HT's.

    words of truth

  10. If you want an honest answer, from your question I feel that you are wanting an answer either way and you are still at a pretty desperate point.

The honest answer is, only time will tell.

It is likely that the hairline will continue receding as Propecia does not work as well on the hairline, but you should also observe the rest of the top of your head. Are you sure that there is no thinning elsewhere? if not, then count yourself very lucky.

  11. so I was on .5mg daily for a few weeks and my erections were pretty hard to get and maintain, however it only took a few days off the drug to get it back, so I'm now going to try .5mg Every other day, or even .25mg daily.

    Which one should i do?

Is there ay benefits from such a low dosage, and any other comments?

    Thanks

  12. I think dropping to half a dose is a good idea and see how that works for you. Many times people think about the side effects so much it will cause them extra anxiety and this could cause some of the sexual side effects. Give it a few more weeks and try not to think about it, but if it continues then you should consider stopping the medication.

I'm not thinking about the side effects, it's definitely real. and I'm already on a half dosage.

I've read a lot of other threads lately where they are admitting that Propecia can actually cause perm side effects also, I think I'm just giong to stop it all together.

That 'less than 2%' stuff is rubbish :/

  13. I've been on it for about 6 weeks now, the first few weeks as a 1mg dosage, no problem. I jumped down to a 1/2 dosage to take it easy and see how that worked for me.

The problem I've noticed for a few weeks now is that I don't seem to get naturally occurring erections, and it requires a lot more work to get and maintain one.

I'm going to drop down to 1/2 mg every other day, but still... Any suggestions?

  14. I got this stuff from ebay a few weeks b ack, been using it two times a week, its from Thailand...

2 bottles of the 2% stuff, but upon revisting the site i see that it says:SAME AS NIZORAL

Has anybody any experience with this stuff? is it the same?

Where should I be getting my Nizoral from at the cheapest price? is ebay and asian suppliers ok?

    Thanks

  15. does it matter if I am wearing Dermmatch in the crown area? I apply twice a day, once in the morning, or when i wake, after my shower, and once in the evening before I go to sleep. 9 times out of 10 I will not shower before sleeping, and I will most likely have dermatch in my hair, at the hairline and on the crown, where I apply the rogaine.

    Does it honestly matter? thanks

  16. Should I consider having a nose job outside of the UK, and in EU if its cheaper?

I was under the impression that nosejobs cost around 3500 pounds for a long time, as that is what it's always said whenever I've googled it. I am currently saving for nosejob as well as another minor OP, so I can at least be happy with my face while I wait out for my HT in years to come...

I checked on the lookyourbest forum and it is saying around 8000 GBP! this has seriously but a downer on things for me. why the fuck so expensive? is this true?

Any advice and stories would be great!

I would ask more on their forum but I absolutely hate it, the community is stupid and everybody set's all of their stuff to private and delete their posts/pictures once they get responses.

Surely some of you guys can help me out with some information here, or point me in the right direction?

  17. Could be an early sign of history repeating itself on you OR you could be adapting nicely. Either way, the semen does water down a bit. I've been on propecia for a few years & don't have libido problems but the semen is thinner. So see how you go.

If I were you, I would take it easy & start with a quarter or half a tablet daily & stick to that dose for a while before increasing it.

I'm really hoping for the best here, this is something I want to commit to using for the rest of my life, so obviously I want nothing but positive response...

I will reduce my dosage then to .5mg a day, for a few weeks? then increase to 1mg daily?

The thinner semen sort of interests me though, I'm just a little worried if it will effect my chances of getting a girl pregnant...can it effect the babies development also?

do most people quit Propecia when trying for kids?
