  1. dabra,

personally I'd go with another strip, because you already have a scar, but I don't know how many grafts you need with your new procedure and whether your laxity allows that?

I think if you already have a scar,it makes more sense to go for another strip and "max out" strips, and leave FUE for future when you cannot have anymore strips taken.

I think in your case it might be a good idea to consult with some doctors who do both FUE and Strip and see what they suggest..

  2. I think that the biggest red flag here is that I have not seen who your Dr. is.

While Dr. Beehner may be correct that this in unrealistic, your Dr. has seen you in person. IF this is a reputable Dr. I would consider his advice, however, if he is not, I would not have surgery with him at all. It sounds like you are saying that he is saying to make a 3rd strip scar and he will make it one after you transplant. I have personally never ever heard of this happening, although I have seen them make 2 into one and it came out better than pre-op, but this is very unusual.

Make sure that you are making the correct choice in doctor FIRST and then figure out what you want to do. If your scars bother you, I would go to a reputable doctor now, see if it is possible to make it into one scar NOW, do that and plant the grafts that are in that tissue, and then follow up with a FUE if that is what you want to do and you are "stripped out."

Maybe at least consider another consult by a leading physician and see what he says.

Spanker,I think you mixed up what I said with with what dabra (OP) said?

are you referring to him or me?

  3. I don't know the position of your scars, but I have 2 scars from 2 procedures.(they are so close together and I didn't even know that there are two! I always thought the first one was removed in my second procedure until I was told there are 2 in my recent consultation).

my first scar is from 10 years ago and second one is from 5 years ago.

for my 3rd surgery I'm going for another strip, and the surgeon says he will create a 3rd scar (to maximise the number of grafts possible) and then will do a scar correction next year so that I will have only one scar.

  4. I've seen many pictures of his work and they were all amazing.

it's great that he uses manual FUE,I believe manual FUE is the right way to do FUE.

also he is in Turkey so his rates are much cheaper than European / American clinics..

(Turkish currency has low value compared to European/American currencies therefore cost of everything will be much lower when American/European currencies are used)

  5. I think I started a thread about that a while ago..

Yes,I did it for 6 months, but didn't notice any improvement.

I was expecting decrease of libido but to my surprise, there was no negative sexual side effect,in fact I noticed increase of libido.

my Avodart was genuine.I decided to stop taking them after 6 months because I didn't see any improvements, and I was concerned about it's safety and felt uncomfortable each time I took those large yellow pills..and because it's an expensive medication.

  6. I don't think 1-5 cigarettes a day would affect growth (or blood supply) at all.

I don't smoke anymore but I know how hard it would be to suddenly quit smoking around the HT time,I did quit smoking before my first HT and until 6 months after that because that surgeon was so against it (result was poor).on my second HT,I smoked normally because this surgeon said it was fine..3-4 a day and it didn't effect my HT at all..infact I remember the very first thing I did after I got back home from clinic was smoking a cigarrette,it was so necessary :D

I've seen different surgeons having different opinions but most believe moderate smoking is fine.even those who are against it,usually say "it's better" not to smoke.meaning there is no evidence.

  7. These are the FUE rates of Dr. Lorenzo:-

FUE: Euro 6 (first 1000 grafts) Euro 4 (after 2000 grafts to 3000 grafts) Euro 2.5 (From 3000 grafts and above)

Hariri those were his Spanish rates, now that he has moved to the UK his rates are different (more expensive) :

    first 1000 grafts : 6 Pounds each

    from 2000 upwards : 4 Pounds each

so 5,250 grafts will now cost around 23,000 Pounds / 35,000 US Dollars

  8. He have best hairlines in the world.

    it's true.

he used to be an excellent FUT surgeon and had some of the best HT results I've ever seen, but apparently he decided to go FUE only and started franchising his name opening clinics everywhere and produced some very poor results that are impossible to correct due over harvesting FUE grafts, etc. he's known to be unethical in his FUE approach.

but his hairline designs (FUT) were the BEST.and most natural ones.

it's interesting because Rahal is also famous for his hairline designs and he used to work with Armani for some time before he started his own clinic.

  9. So the 2000 grafts I had last year would be 12k........

no, some people seem to misread that price quote..

    it's 6 Pounds for the first 1000 grafts,after that it's 4 Pounds per graft..so 2000 grafts will cost

    10,000 pounds.

still much more expensive than other top European FUE surgeons, and much more expensive than his prices in Spain.

  10. yes 6 pound per graft is VERY expensive.as much of a fan of his work I am,I wouldn't pay that much.specially since the rates were much lower is Spain..

a 3500 grafts procedure used to cost around 13,300 Euros (around 11,200 Pounds / 17,000 US Dollars)

it will now cost 16,000 Pounds (around 19,000 Euros / 24,500 US Dollars)

  11. I'll be honest,if I hear techs will be doing the incisions and extracting grafts I will walk away from that clinic.

you are paying for the skills and expertise of an individual.therefore that doctor SHOULD do the incisions and extract the grafts.otherwise you are just paying for some technicians doing the job under "franchise" name of the doctor, much better if you go to the cheaper clinics were techs do all the job at least you wont waste you money on a name.

but properly trained and experienced techs placing the grafts under doctor supervision is acceptable and it's the norm for both FUT and FUE.although there are some famous FUE surgeons that do the incision, extraction and placing the grafts themselves (Lorenzo),and he has the best FUE results.also DeReyes (and his Wife).
