  1. NEWHAIRPLEASE,

Congratulations on making your decision and scheduling your procedure! I wish you the best and hope that you will continue to keep us updated as you begin your journey.

I see from your profile that your using the big three. Do you feel you hair loss is stabilized? What are your plans for hairline design and how much coverage do you expect in the crown?

I'm sure whatever your hair restoration goals are, Dr. Rahal has worked with you to create a long-term plan that will address them.

    Best of luck!

My main goal with the crown is to soften my existing minigrafts. Which I think should be pretty easy because I don't think they are terrible. Then obviously I'd like to pack as much in the rest of my scalp as possible!

  2. I finally got my website up and running!! This is what I look like before 4000plus grafts with Dr Rahal in January of next year...Tell me what you guys think! I think we are thinking anywhere from 1000-1500 grafts to soften then crown and then 2500 for the rest of the front of the scalp. If we can get 5000, then we are..tell me what ytou guys think!

  3. I am having trouble uploading photos to my new blog...I need step by step instructions on going back and editing to add photos..I was adding them and then it just went blank? I guess Im stupid!

  4. After 6 months of online and in person consults, I have decided to go with Dr Rahal! It's still a ways away in Jan 19,2012, but I want all my vacation and I'm driving up from the south. I know there are a lot of excellent surgeons on here, as I've spoken with many of them, but in the end it's hard to argue with the results Dr Rahal puts out on a daily basis. I would love to hear from some Rahal patients and any who might have stayed at the Foxboro(I think that's right) while recovering from their surgery. I will be spending at least 5 nights in Canada, mainly because I want to get as much help during that crucial first week! Anyways, I'm excited. It's a long ways off, but maybe by July 19,2012( 6 months after surgery) I'll have a good summer hair cut!

  5. I had surgery at 19. I don't regret the surgery, however I do regret the fact that the surgeon I chose did not properly inform me on current and or future hair loss. That was 1993. I am now 37 years old and I will be having surgery with Dr Gabel in February. Trust me when I say this!!! " I thank GOD that I have enough donor hair and that my hair loss is relatively slow for it starting so young!! " if I were you, and I was you, I would wait till I'm at least 30!! Get on meds and stay on meds... I'm excited about my surgery and I know you will be too. It's hard being as young as you are, but your not alone and going bald at 18 DOES NOT mean you are doomed to be a Norwood 5,6, or 7. But I think you do need to wait a bit. That's my two cents!

  6. I've been taking the big 3 for 5 months now, rogaine, finasteride, and nizoral. Up until the last week I've never noticed the so called shed. I really don't know what even classifies a shed? But what I have noticed the last week is that when I apply the rogaine foam I'm noticing some hairs in my hand after I rub it in. Is this considered shedding? And after 5 months is this normal? It's not a lot, but it is definitely some hairs on my fingers when I'm done applying the rogaine foam.

  7. Heres what I would do if I were you. I would drive to one of the recommend doctors on this site that works in Florida. Your profile says that's where you live. I would establish a relationship with this doctor, have him or her take some photos, and I would imagine they would give you a prescription for proscar. Also, this will give you the added benefit of being able to go back in a year and take more pictures to see your progress.

  8. I'm going to Dr Gabel in February of next year for surgery, well I live a very long way from Portland Oregon. I know Dr Gabel uses internal sutures to take the tension off the outside closure. My question is, if I have staples for the outside closure, can my wife just take them out at 10 days post op, or whenever Dr Gabel says? I cant imagine it being that difficult?

  9. I couldn't imagine any blood work, just like some others have said, ask for proscar( finasteride ) and then get it in the generic form. This will be 5mg and then you can cut them as needed. Much cheaper that way. 10 dollars for 30 pills and will last a long time! Also, the rogaine foam will cost you about 49 dollars for a 4 month supply if you get it from romaine.com. So, in all for roughly 15 dollars a month you should be sitting good! If you want to get the third arsenal weapon against hair loss, get the nizoral shampoo. Use it a couple of times a week. One bottle of that should last you at least 6 months!
