  1. I agree, I have seen free surgery offered for no or very very poor results.

For docs or the well educated....what is Dr. Feller speaking of? For instance, what kind of pre-existing conditions, medication etc can cause very poor results.

Also, what percent of patients does this happen to?

To add: that sucks about your situation, i wont say much because this is kind of a he said she said situation.

  2. No I have not had it put under magnification but have shaved my head to a #1 and have not seen any minituration besides a bit in the temple region. My hair is black and course and I would think it would show up well. I have a vast array of MPB and non-MPB in my family so it is hard to tell what genetics will bring.

  3. If I am getting a small proceedure not...say 700 grafts FUE....and one day the bottom falls out and I become a NW 6 (I do not think that is likely to happen as I am almost 32 and there is no sign of such pattern)....but say that happens...and I need a large session....if you start with FUE does that reduce the total amount of grafts you will eventually be able to get?

I talked to SMG and Matt said that you can only get 4 to 5 K grafts total FUE and if you just go strip you can get 8 k plus Strip.....so my question is....

If you get 4 or 5K grafts fue.....can you still get the next 3k or so strip if you really need them?

My question is, no matter what order you do it in.....is the TOTAL number of grafts going to be pretty much the same?

I hope you can understand the question....I am trying to get an idea for what I want my master plan to be.

  4. I googled for the pictures. I saw only one bad HT scar. It may have looked bad because it was pretty new. I think that probably all look bad at first.

It was pretty bad that the very first hit I got on google was a youtube video about it on inside addition. Yeah, he's obviously not being forthright about it, but why should he? Men are not socialized in our culture to view the loss of hair as anything but a bad thing. How many bald Presidents have we had lately? Or bald public figures in general? Or leading Hollywood actors? Not many.

Kinda lame for Inside Edition to make a story out of it and waste airtime with it, but I think women have been dealing with their own issues being exposed publicly and now it's swinging in the other direction.

Life isn't fair. It's good to some, terrible to others. Most of us get a mixed hand and we just have to deal with it. I'm sure that once the hairloss affliction all of us obsess about ceases to be an issue, we'll find another way to discriminate in its place.

You dont have to leave this site to see more then one bad HT scar....that is why docs on this site do scar revisions....it may not be their original work, but they are fixing someone's scar.

  5. I give up....I can never get a really good guess on graft count. That is pretty close to the amount of work I want done. It comes out to about 12 cm2 on me, maybe a tiny bit more.....how in the heck is that 2000 grafts? I feel discouraged about this part of my HT research and self education.

On a side note....that is gonna look great.

  6. I agree you are too young and to start finasteride (propecia) soon to help keep what you have. I have a jacked up head or I would keep mine shaved. On the good side, you look like a handsome young man with a very nice round head...I would shave it and rock it like own the room your are standing in....wherever that may be.

The biggest ladies man at my work has a nice round head and shaves it....I would prolly trade some of my hair for a good head like yours :D

  7. I dont think your scar looks great...that said, you are not gonna walk around holding your hair up.

As far as your hair goes....I would be very optimistic. I predict a good outcome. At 4.5 months, it looks fine and think you are going to be a very happy camper 4 or 5 months from now.:D

  8. I personally would not go someone that I could not see 12 month work on. That said....Dr. Rahal has GREAT hairlines using strip.

Have you considered Dr. Feller who does have FUE experience and is in the same class as Rahal IMO? Just a thought.

I do not beleive that Dr. Rahal's artistry would be any less in an FUE but I would inquire about the harvesting experience. Again, Rahal is REALLY good at what he does....I just would not want to be a starter FUE patient. He may have quite a bit of experience at it tho...I am not sure.

  9. I will say that this site does seem to lean strip, but I think that is the users and not really the "site." That said, this is also a pretty open site and the moderations seems fair. If you talk crap, make unsubstantiated claims, etc...you will get called out on it. But it is a fair site. I trust this site over others, even though I am leaning towards an FUE and thinking about not even going to one of the docs this site....there is a lot of good knowledge here and I think there are honest intentions on this site.

  10. Of course I am not a scientist but I think a lot of it depends on genes and how strong your baldness is....

Your DHT is lowered taking it longer to kill your hair if you are on fin, but it does not change the fact that your hair is sensitive to this and will still be afftected eventually. I know that this is a simple way to look at it but in a simple way, that is how I see it.

I do not believe that fin is a lifelong treatment of keeping my hair, I believe that it is a lifelong treatment to help me keep it longer.

As a few docs have said, keep taking it til something better comes along.

  11. I only told my brother and father (he drove me) when I had my first HT. I was getting pretty bald and felt like crappola and frankly felt a little cheesy getting a HT because I wasn't sure what the results would be and I was gonna be pretty humiliated if I shelled out $10k and looked really bad (thanks to this site, I chose a great doc). Well, the results were nothing short of spectacular for me as far as I was concerned. Having a restored hairline to frame my face made a huge difference in my appearance. Everyone noticed a very positive change but people were just stumped. Most couldn't even pinpoint it to my hair being different - just something was different about me (many thought that I was dying my hair - ha! ya gotta have something to dye to do that!). I was lucky in that my doc did not require me to shave down so after two weeks off work (during which I said I was on vacation) I came back and no one could tell I had done anything. Then over the months, it just started growing in slowly but surely so there wasn't this big sudden dramatic change - just a nice gradual change that everyone I knew experienced with me (of course, I was the only one who knew why things were changing for the better). It was really fun to see the reactions of people around me. They were just stumped.

For my second HT, it was a bit harder to explain where I was going for two weeks again. By that time, my thinking had changed a bit. Now I was convinced about how good modern HTs can be so I was less concerned with who knew. Instead of making up bullsh*t lies and worrying about how I was going to keep the second HT secret, I told several friends, co-workers and family members. They were shocked but impressed with my first results. I know some people have talked but I don't care. I've found that most people are more concerned with their own lives and not my hair to really even notice. Now my second HT is growing in very well and if people ask I say hell ya I got some work done. I was damn near bald and I decided to do something about it - like anyone would if they could. Ask any women if she would do something about it if she were going bald. Hell yeah they would - you know they would move mountains to do something! So screw it, the cat's out of the bag and I couldn't give a damn. Yeah, I took control of my life and my happiness and it was one of the best decisions I've made.

+1, I totally agree....nobody really cares anyway, not that it is their business, but I think the up front approach if asked is good.....ALL KINDS of men worry about going bald....and most would apperciate the honesty.
