  1. Anyone know of a good stylist for men in the central CT area? My hair at this point is thin and quite long. I was a NW 6 and have had 2 sessions of a total of 2100 grafts. The last session was 6 months ago. I'm still wearing it in a comb-over and you know how cumbersome that can be. Besides this, my hair caliber seems to be medium to fine. I'd like to find someone familiar with creating a new cut that will maximize or give the appearance of more volume until all my grafts grow in. It seems that the longer it is the flatter my hair lays. I'm afraid a modified buzz would show quite a bit of scalp. UncJim or anyone else from CT: any suggestions? Or if someone has suggestions for styles please let me know.
  2. Yes. I have had 2 procedures done by Dr Beehner and am very happy with the work done thus far. The second HT has not yet fully grown out so I have yet to see the full impact of 2 HT's. However, I started from a NW 6, bordering on 7, and there is a significant change. You will find his clinic has a very friendly atmosphere and his techs are very well trained. Before I made my decision, Dr Beehner introduced me to 2 of his patients and the work they had done was top notch. Although Dr Beehner has awards to his credit and continually carries on research in his field, you will find him to be a very down to earth person. He will tell you to talk to several doctors, but do yourself a favor a schedule a consultation with him.
  3. Corpo You might want to go to 'search' on this site, type in Beehner, and look for Dr. Beehner's informative comments on HT's for people with fine hair. Good luck with your research!
  4. I don't have a website yet but am working on it. Regarding the emails: How do I resize? When I attach the export file to the email it also shows in the body of the email. Is there any way to have it just show as an attachment so the recipient can click on it? I assume the recipient doesn't need to have the fantmorph software on his/her machine. Again, your results look great and the morphing gives the changes that have taken place more impact. Great job! phl
  5. Whoops That's a great way to show how your HT's have changed your appearance. I downloaded the software as well. Tqo question: Once you export a set of pictures, how did you pull them into your web site? Can you also email these to someone so they can see the morphed images? Thanks for your help. Great job on your website!

  7. Guys this looks great- fantastic growth for 5 months. Did I read that correctly - 5 months post op? I'm 4 1/2 months post op and hair are just starting to grow and are fine. Can someone clarify if these pics are truly 5 months? Anyway, the difference is tremendous.
  8. I had a similiar experience about my 5th month. Dr B. suggested a tar-based dandruff shampoo but it was a little too strong for my scalp and, after using other shampoos, I finally got rid of it. It seems some people's scalps are more sensitive and an HT can sometimes trigger bouts of dandruff. Try any mild shampoo, preferably without alcohol (like Biotin), clean the scales off good, and don't have the shower water too warm. It will eventually go away.
  9. On Sept 19th I had my 2nd HT procedure with Dr Beehner of Saratoga Springs, NY. Starting at an advanced NW 6, the first procedure has made a definite difference and I am now in the early stages of adding density and refinement. Everything about the procedure went extremely well, Dr Beehner and his staff spent a lot of time with me (7-8 hours) and made me feel right at home. Recovery this time was very easy - minimal soreness in the donor and recipient areas for a couple of days, scabbing gone sooner, absolutely no swelling. I learned from the first procedure to be careful with accidently scratching the recipient area and disloging grafts. My graftcyte routine is completed and, after 2 weeks, I am ready to return to work. Really, I could have gone back at one week. I am looking forward to 8 - 10 months down the road when I hope the results are dramatic. I will post pics when I see further growth. I would definitely endorse Dr Beehner and his friendly, experienced staff.

  11. Dear Thinner You may be alright with the Bosley HT but many people are not. At 2 months you are still too early to see any growth but it should be starting at least by 3 months. The ingrown hairs are a small complication with HT's and are nothing too worry about. Check the surgeons section: there is advice there from a doctor on how to treat them. I'd give the whole thing a little more time. Who was your doctor? If things don't turn out ok you should definitely consult with one of the top docs on this site.
  12. Core9 I highly recommend Dr Beehner in Saratoga Springs, NY. His clinic is not too far from Albany, probably 2 1/2 to 3 hours from anywhere in CT. I've just had my 2nd procedure done by Dr Beehner (Sept 19th) and the recovery is going even easier than the 1st. Of course you have others to choose from in the Northeast but I felt that Dr Beehner's extensive expertise in the HT field, his friendliness and accessibility to answer any questions I had made it an excellent fit for me. His staff is great and will make your surgery day a breeze. Check out his website, which you can get to from this forum. I spent months researching and talking with doctors, but when I found Dr Beehner I knew he was the right choice for me. By the way, I was a Norwood 6 (bordering on a 7) and even the first session has made a tremendous difference for me. The 2nd was to add more density and I'm already planning for further sessions to refine things further. Let me know if I can answer any further questions you may have. 13. It seems that this should not hinder further surgeries and is a common condition. I just happen to have a sensitive scalp and I'm thinking drying alcohol based shampoos or other hair products are things I've had to avoid for many years. If you search for my photos (an old one I dug up showing a before shot and one from June of this year) you'll see a remarkable difference after one procedure. I wouldn't change my choice of surgeons. My intention this time is to avoid the pitfalls or mistakes I made as a new HT patient - no scratching of grafts, more frequent spraying with graftcyte, gentler shampooing the first week, etc. I'm sure my grafts held up somewhere in the high 90 percentile but why not give them every chance I can. So ... anyone with a recommendation on alcohol-free sprays, etc please let me know. I'll post new pictures in a few months of the progress that is sure to come. Anyone with a suggestion also on free websites to post pics to please let me know. And anyone who is considering a HT for the first time - it gives you a tremendous psychological boost once you see the results. [This message was edited by phl on August 31, 2003 at 07:23 AM.]
  14. Here's a question for any HT patients: Are there any special precautions I should take prior to a HT when I have a long standing case of Seb. Dermatitis? In my case it's something that has flared up and died down for a long while. There is nothing apparent now to the naked eye (my wife has checked) but the symptoms still recur. How difficult is it under microscopic conditions to see minor inflammed areas in the donor area to avoid, especially since there is absolutely no obvious flaking or scaling? In talking with a doctor, who developed it while in college (he must be in his 50's now), he said he still has patches of it on his scalp - so this condition never really goes away but may lie dormant and flare up from time to time due to heat, fatigue, stress - very resistant. I don't want to wait or I'll never get to finish my surgeries. I've looked upon this condition as a minor but frustrating setback. Medicated shampoos irritate more. Any insights you can give me would really be appreciated as I'm really looking forward to my next surgery based on my awesome results so far. 16. KAR, What a difference from your earlier photo! Dr Beehner has done great work on you! I'm scheduled for a procedure with him in September and hope he can accomplish the same with me. Right now my hair (with only 1000 grafts) still has a see through look). Your hair looks much thicker and fuller! It's amazing what an additional year has done to your growth. Do you plan on any further surgeries? How many grafts have you had so far with Dr Beehner? Also, are you using any special volumizing shampoos or products like Toppic? Again, great results! 17. PD I'll work on getting some closeups posted. It may take a few days. I don't have a digital camera so I have to take them, get them developed and scan them in. I'll try to get some hairline shots as well. Yes, depending on how I comb my hair there is some see throughness because I'm in an early stage of my procedures. If I comb my hair back you can see through - if I comb it from left to right there is more coverage. I'm hoping once the 2nd procedure FU's grow in there will be much less see throughness. Keep in mind that my hair tends to be average to fine in thickness and is dark brown so it will take more grafts to make a difference. If I had more gray that would help! I've been told that the first is the most dramatic, especially when you start as an NW 6 or 7. Yes, Dr Beehner did use a small percentage of coupled FU's for density. In the next procedure there will be fewer of these and more single FU'
  18. Thanks NW. Nope - I'm not his brother. I'm looking forward to even more density and refinement. I will have my second procedure in September to add more to the front, top and perhaps some to the crown area.
  19. Here's the after pic. Can someone tell me how to post 2 attachments side by side with a message? [This message was edited by phl on August 24, 2003 at 03:24 PM.]
  20. Not the best of pictures (I'm still learning how to edit and post these) but these 2 pictures show the dramatic difference even the first HT can make. The first was taken 3 years ago and the second was taken 13 months after my HT. Once I get some closeups I'll also post these. The first HT was about 1,000 grafts with Dr Mike Beehner of Saratoga Springs, NY. 22. Dude1, I think the healing procedure is the same no matter how many HT's you have. Growth may be slower I hear. I don't know about your other questions.
  23. Thank you Dr Beehner for your description of your experience with the second skin process. This was the first mention of it on this forum that I had seen so I believe it is still not widely used and is still in its experimental stage. Personally I'd elect to go with the graftcyte spray and let the scabs heal in the open air. Scabbing was not a real problem for me the first time around and is only short term.
  24. Doctor Beehner, Thanks for your remarks regarding the width of the donor strips for 2nd and 3rd procedures. It answers a question we briefly touched on in an earlier email. As you can appreciate there are many questions that we as prospective surgery patients think of that are perhaps routine knowledge to the doctor. I believe it is important for the patient to be as informed as possible and your website and contributions of yourself and other doctors to this forum help tremendously. 25. Drs Beehner and Limmer I am having a procedure next month. Re the "2nd skin" process mentioned by a poster under "Post Your Own New Topics": Sounds promising as far as lack of scabbing, etc. Any drawbacks? Dr Beehner: have you considered using it? I don't mean to open up a controversial topic among physicians - just curious about this idea.
