  1. Anyone remember Tiger's first knee surgery?Guess what he was really getting done during that couple of months off the radar?
  2. Hey searcher, I was at Dr. Vogel's office the same day as you. How's that for coincidence? My situation was not as serious as yours as my last procedure was done by an excellent doctor. The reason for the change was that Dr. Vogel was willing to be a little more aggressive with my hairline than my last surgeon. Besides that, he has a way of carrying himself that makes you feel confident that you are in good hands. Anyway, I am now about 10 days out from 1100 grafts and the results are astounding. My crusts and redness are already gone and the sutures are healing well. I just have this feeling that things are going to turn out great. Anyone who is looking for a surgeon in the Baltimore/DC area should at least meet with Dr. Vogel. He and his staff are really friendly and they are very concerned about a great result. Good luck searcher78, I too will post pics and updates.
  3. I play ice hockey and I have had no problems with dermmatch after games. The best way to use this stuff is to apply it evenly to entire area and then towel off the excess with a dark towel. Once it dries, it won't come off unless you wash it off with soap. Good luck.
  4. I am currently 7 months post-op from an 1200 graft procedure with Dr. Bernstein and I have developed a somewhat severe case of dandruff. I've never had dandruff before and I am wondering if anyone else has dealt with this. My results have been pretty good but I'm waiting for the hairs to thicken for more coverage up front. Perhaps the dandruff is a sign of good things to come?

  6. My wife and I had to go to a genetic counselor because my wife had taken some prescribed pain pills before she realized she was pregnant. After clearing up that matter, I asked about the propecia. She told me that there was nothing to worry about since very few types of drugs can affect sperm. Hope that eases your mind.
  7. I am 4 months out from 1200 grafts with Dr. Bernstein (NYC) and I am finally seeing some cosmetic improvement. This is such a relief since my deteriorating hairline was beginning to reveal the large grafts that Bosley did about 8 years ago. Hopefully, this procedure will be it for me as long as propecia keeps doing its thing. For the record, I would recommend Dr. Berstein and his office to anyone considering an HT procedure. They were very professional and the results are looking good. I will post pictures when I get my pre and post-op pics from the doc. Thanks. BTW, I have been reading posts on this site and others for some time and I would like to thank all of the veteran posters for the time and effort they put in to giving good advice. If only this information was available 8 years ago, I could have avoided the Bosley mistake. Live and learn, I guess.

  9. Maybe it's just me, but I see a difference between your before and after photos. Remember, when the hairs first start coming in, they are very thin and transparent. Get up close to your bathroom mirror and look for new peach fuzz. That is how it started out with me. BTW, in my opinion, 1200 grafts will do plenty considering the amount of hair you already have. I hope you are on Propecia too. Good luck.
  10. I went to Dr. Bernstein in NYC and found him to be extremely professional. Since I am only at 3 months, I can't really describe my final results. But I can tell you that my donor scar and recipient sites healed unbelievably fast. I went to him because of his reputation and the positive impression I got when I met him. Newhair has workshops where you can meet patients and ask questions, so this might be something to look into. But you shouldn't be afraid to travel if you find a doctor you like because most reimburse for airfare. Good luck.
  11. Oh, I almost forgot. Since you are only 20, who knows what medicine/technology will bring in the near future. Hang in there with Propecia/Minox until some of these new procedures are perfected. Maybe then your dream hairline can be a reality.
  12. I know what you mean man! I am 3 months post op with Dr. Bernstein and I am so eager to see some cosmetic difference. One thing you have to look forward to in the near future is the healing. At about 1 month, my wounds were completely healed and, if I never looked in the mirror, I would forget that anything had been done. Hang in there bud.
  13. It's going to be tough to find a doctor who will do that kind of work, especially on a 20 year old. This is because it is simply not a good idea. You have to recognize that you will look pretty stupid at 40 years old with a 17 year old hairline. Also, if and when your native hairline starts to recede, the maintenance and return trips to the surgeon will make you wish you had never thought of this idea. My advice is to experiment with different hairstyles. See a professional stylist instead of a barber. Good luck.
  14. I experienced shock loss after my second HT in June. I continued my daily regimen of minox 5% and propecia and most of the shocked hairs have returned. Dr. Bernstein told me almost all shock loss returns within one year so I would not worry about it too much. Good luck.
  15. I use minoxidil 5% along with a daily dose of propecia. This combination has helped me regrow hair all over my head, including the temples. Minoxidil is so cheap now that there is no reason not to try it. I buy a three month supply at Target for $25. Good luck.
