Senior Member Garageland Posted December 2, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted December 2, 2006 Ok.......its been a long 6 months, i have updated my website and will post the pics here aswell, these pics are again taken outside, it is a very dull and overcast day.My observations, from the front on i am very pleased with how i looks, it has made a major difference to when i look in the mirror, i still have some new grafts popping through and a lot of the current grafts are fine and only short in length not making a huge difference to the overall cosmetic look. The bridge and crown area i am dissapointed with......but i have read that these take longer so i will be patient with this and hope it comes good, i have taken a wider range of pics so you can see just how thin the crown is....also remember i didn't have grafts placed into my lower part of the crown and i have only been on propecia for 3.5 months. My scar in the main is not a problem but i have an area of shockloss still, i am concerned that this might be permanant scarring, although the situation improves it is still a long way of being acceptable, still a bit numb in places but that was expected after 4 surgeries. I guess i am at a stage were if it never improved i would say the surgery was worthwhile because i have rid myself of a pluggy look and have more hair up front in which to brush back. That said i have no idea how much my hair will improve over the next 6 months, as everyone is different, i certainly have hair greed and obviously want the hairline to improve as some of the old grafts can still be seen if you look carefully enough and i want the crown and bridge areas to thicken up considerably. Time will tell, but i am optimistic for a first class result, what do you guys think? here's the link to my blog. http://www.hairlossweblogs.com/home-page.asp?WebID=96 --- Former patient and representative for Hasson & Wong. Bill - Seemiller
Hey Garageland, I've been following your progress for quite awhile now. Things are looking great for you! A few things: 1. 6 months is far from completion my friend...you will have more growth and your hair will continue to thicken. Don't look for final results until at least 12 months, but even still, it can continue to thicken up to 18 months. 2. The crown can take longer to grow in...so don't be discouraged...again, 6 months is early. 3. You had a lot of ground to cover for your surgery. You will have a world class result from a world class doctor, but stay realistic. If you have the donor, you can always go back for another surgery at a later point. I hope this helps. Senior Member Garageland Posted December 3, 2006 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2006 Hi Bill, yes what you say is very true...and of course i know all this, you get greedy and impatient and want the results here and now.I am confident of the best result i could of possibly got, it already looks way better than it did 6 months ago and judging by the texture of alot of the new hairs that are coming in i believe i will have a good amount of thickening up to do. I really think this is my last shot, i just don't have the donor to do anymore, if i have scar revision then that might get me a few grafts to put here and there,so i don't have the luxury like a lot of guys to think 'oh well next time round i will go for more density here and there'. Good growth to you Bill, your results are going to be awesome. Woo Hoo! i've got my link to my blog working again --- Former patient and representative for Hasson & Wong. Senior Member hairbank Posted December 4, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted December 4, 2006 Garageland, Ditto Bill's 2nd point with respect to crownwork. Personally, I'm at 9 1/2 months and I can tell you months 6-9 for crownwork showed significant improvement. You've already come a long way from your before pics. It's looking very good. With the amount of grafts you received, I'm guessing you still have some significant changes for the positive coming up!
