Senior Member tkotko Posted October 4, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted October 4, 2007 A HT can't emulate what Elton has. He uses a hair "system". They do look good if done right, just a bit of a pain to maintain, plus adhesive is used to attach to scalp.
Senior Member MrJobi Posted October 4, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted October 4, 2007 Celeberites like Elton, John travolta, and Sean Connery use wings.. Others use concelears or have had Ht's and don't admit it of course.. A good HT is basically undetectable JOBI 1417 FUT - Dr. True 1476 FUT - Dr. True 2124 FUT - Dr. True 604 FUE - Dr. True My views are based on my personal experiences, research and objective observations. Senior Member nobuzz4me Posted October 4, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted October 4, 2007 Back in the day I heard Burt Reynolds had a HT (which he has), not knowing the difference I between a HT and a wig, I thought Burt looked great and jumped into HT at a young age. Bad mistake. Luckily, my hair has not gone nw7 and my repair from that mistake has been corrected. Do not be fooled by the hollywood people, they have make up artists who can add in small hair pieces, concealors etc. They can look good on camera for short periods of time, what about the rest of the time after the cameras are off???? Senior Member Time to do something Posted October 7, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted October 7, 2007 Elton John wears a lace hair replacement. They have been perfected to look very natural. I wore one until my HT. The downside of the hair replacement is that it can be high maintenance. The most natural look for the front comes from using a water based glue for the attachment and the rest can be secured with double sided sticky tape. The glue in the front allows the lace to "melt" into the skin and looks like the hair is growing right out of the scalp. The glue can be a mess but it is the most natural look. The other thing that always bothered me is if anyone touched your hair they would be able to feel the base of the replacement. Also after about four months they really need to be replaced because the hair starts to look dull and worn. Finally for hygiene purposes I took mine off every three days for shampooing which is also high maintenance. Senior Member MrJobi Posted October 8, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted October 8, 2007 They are quite expensive and take too much care I would never use one.. I'd rather be bald.. Senior Member Jotronic Posted October 8, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted October 8, 2007 Unfortunately a lot of celebrities do not take the time to look into hair transplantation like us that peruse the boards. They have assistants and when they start fussing about their hair loss they tell their assistants to find out about hair transplantation. Assistants run in "circles" in LA and so they just ask each other instead of performing true research. When you are an assistant to a celebrity in LA the first thing that comes to mind is, of course, that there have to be excellent docs in the area since hundreds of docs do boobs, lips, tummy tucks etc. When you think cosmetic surgery, you think LA. This is evident with the examples posted here as well as personal research into this phenomenon with client????le that are in the know. Fortunately, not all celebrities blindly rely on their assistants. Some do read the boards just like you and make their choice based on true research. You'd be surprised who is out there sporting new but real hair from a transplant. The internet has helped some of them find their answers just like they have for many of us active members here on the boards. Senior Member Time to do something Posted October 8, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted October 8, 2007 The reason some celebrities use hair replacements vs. a HT is the same as everyone else. They may have a bald area too large for a HT. Some may want a thicker density than what they might be able to achieve with a HT. The price of hair replacements has gone way down due to competition and the quality has gone way up. To a lot of guys though having something "artificial" on their head just doesn't sit right. Senior Member MrJobi Posted October 8, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted October 8, 2007 Look at it this way. Like us, the good HT's on celebs go un-noticed.. Guest
Three years ago a local radio station said Kevin Costner was scheduled to get "plugs" by a hair transplant specialist in Vancouver. Jeez... I wonder who that could be. Nevertheless, I think his results are pretty damn good. Apparently his "people" did their research.
Senior Member notgoing2gobald Posted October 9, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted October 9, 2007 Jotronic, so have you guys had some celebs before? Michaellovesnyc, yeah both Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are in their mid to late forties and look as though they have never lost a hair in their life. Its either make up, transplant, or some really good genes.
Senior Member Time to do something Posted October 9, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted October 9, 2007 In some cases it is just plain good genetics. An example would be Ronald Reagan. He had a thick head of hair up into his old age long before good transplants and hair replacements were available. He also retained his natural color without dying it. The irony of men that age which still have thick hair that hasn't gone gray is, people assume they have had a transplant or wear a hair replacement because so few people as they get older retain their original color and density. If you notice these are usually men with very little body hair. I suppose the DHT that causes baldness turns on the switch for hair on the body and turns the switch off for hair on the head. Go figure. Regular Member Gangster Posted October 10, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted October 10, 2007 Jeremy Piven's hair looks pretty good these days- but a few years back he was definitely showing BIG time signs of thinning.
