Senior Member NervousNelly Posted February 18, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 18, 2007 I recently goet some info from Cousin It pertaining to a study of those with recent HT's and the use of minoxidil. According to the study, when the product was used in the first 48-72 hrs post HT, 25% of participants had no shedding and 25% began growing hair after 1st month. He didn't provide me with the reference but if anyone needs it I can research that info for you. Just thought that this was interesting material and might be of some help to everyone. Senior Member Gorpy Posted February 18, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 18, 2007 Thanks Nervous, That is interesting info. My post op instructions say not to use Minox until the incision sites are compeletely healed (one week or so), to prevent over absorbtion of the medication. Within 48 to 72 hours, obviously the incisions would not be completely healed. Any thoughts on this? ____________ 2700 Total Grafts w/ Keene 9/28/05 663 one's = 663 1116 two's = 2232 721 three's = 2163 200 four's = 800 Hair Count = 5858 1000 Total Grafts w/Keene 2/08/07 Mostly combined FU's for 2600+ hairs My Photo Album See me at Dr. Keene's Gallery

Senior Member MrJobi Posted February 19, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 19, 2007 Interesting?? Only problem is you'd probably need to continue the Minoxidil or lose what you gained.. Senior Member irish homer Posted February 19, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 19, 2007 MRJB, good point but would you lose the transplanted hair as it would probably not be Minoxidil dependant just given a kick start by the minoxidil???? Senior Member MrJobi Posted February 19, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 19, 2007 Hi You will most likely lose these hairs regardless. In very few cases you keep the hair. I personally wouldn't start a medication which requires you to stay on it unless I planned on continuing.. During normal use you lose all results gained upon stopping.. I know some docs reccommend it but again, why start when you will be stopping?
