hair loss beginning

Hi there, I am new to hair loss.

I panicked about 2 months ago, as I stared onto my increasingly bare forehead.

I am 28 years old, and I asked my Dad when he began to loose his hair. He said it was around when he was 28 too.

Further panic ensured.

I spoke to a friend of mine who recommended that I went to see a private specialist.

However, before I did I went along to boots and noticed that they were offering propecia.

I immediately signed up, and now have been going for around 7 weeks. (with a 4 day break in the middle, due to leaving pack behind on holiday).

I have been horrified to find that in the last two weeks I have been a progressively faster reduction of the thickness of my hair, and a faster growth of the bald patch on the front.

Can anyone suggest why I have seen an increase. I am naturally putting it down to propecia not working, but I read something about pre sheding?

Many thanks for any posts. I am so keen not to be bald like my dad!!!

Hi Woodbine, I understand what you are going through is tough! Hang in there! It could indeed be pr- shedding as you hormones are beginning to stabilize after several weeks. You mentioned that boots is now offering Propecia.... I assume you are talking about boots in the UK right?

Also have you thought about using Minoxidil?

Sounds like pre shedding which means it should grow back. It simply when the hair follicles reach their resting phase. Try not to be too alarmed.

Also, in regardings to your wallet. Propecia is ultimately Finasteride. An identical generic. Finasteride is available at normally less than 1/4 of the price of Propecia. Its normally 5 times strength per tablet, therefore necessary to cut into quarters. However, this obviously leads to the product also lasting 4 times as long. Not many guys on here use branded Propecia. The price is just too high.
