Senior Member hdude46 Posted December 3, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2009 Hey guys, I'm currently taking generic proscar, and every pharmacy I call, they only carry the generic version of Proscar. Is there a significant difference between the generic version of Proscar and the brand name Proscar? M proscar is dr reddys and i get it from my local pharmacy, not online. Senior Member Maxxy Posted December 3, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2009 Hey Hdude46, Generic and branded Proscar both contain the same active ingredient (Finasteride) and at the same quantities, any other ingredients will only be fillers and coating which won't affect the mediction. Senior Member hdude46 Posted December 3, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2009 Thanks, are you sure of this?
Senior Member Maxxy Posted December 3, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2009 Yes, I'm sure. As long as you're getting a genuine brand from a genuine source then both will contain 5mg of Finasteride. As you are purchasing it from a pharmacy, I'm sure you're fine. Senior Member Janna Posted December 3, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2009 hdude46, I agree with Maxxy. Fin is fin - as long as you're getting them from a reliable source. I am a female on finasteride. It appears to be working however I get dry scalp and oily alternating. It seems like it grows and then stops..back and forth. Is this an adjustment? I have been on it two weeks. My husband said he sees new hair growing in the crown where it never was before. I hope I don't have to stop because of the scaling etc.. Jeff60
I think that generic and brand Proscar and Propecia contains one active ingredient which is called Finasteride. I find a good site with information about it - http://finasterides.com . Hope, you will find something intresting for yourself there.
