Dr Mani Mittal, 1450 FUE

Just a write up on my experience with Dr Manish Mittal in London & his co-ordinator Russ.

Firstly they are both a breeze to communicate with, Russ is organised and knows his stuff as is Dr Mani and the techs + they both have a good sense of humour which when your in the chair or doing the pre-op trust me makes a difference. I did a fair bit of research and looked at a few reputable clinics in the UK (doesn't seem many!) & tried to avoid the bad ones, for me as i only have slight temple recession i liked Dr Mani's hairlines the most, in terms of design, naturalness & density + going abroad didn't really interest me even though its cheaper and there are some very good surgeons abroad, i thought Dr Mani's work was on a par with some of the better surgeons abroad & recovering at home rather than flying bk from another country appealed to me.

Day of surgery flew by got to the clinic at 8:15am to meet with Mani, did a blood pressure reading and was in the chair getting the hair partially shaved at about 9:00am. I've heard some horror stories about the anaesthetic injections but it really wasnt that bad at all, don't know if thats down to the Dr or my pain tolerance, probably a bit of both i would say its about a 5/10 pain wise.

Took a few hours to extract the grafts with Dr mani he then made the incisions (himself) & we had a quick stop for lunch. after that they did the placements of the hair grafts, Dr Mani actually did one side of my head himself why the tech who is very professional did the other side. I was done by about 4pm.

My hairloss wasnt to bad it was only the corners that needed doing and some would say probably borderline for a HT but once I spoke to Dr Mani we agreed on being realistic etc and got on well, it was something i wanted to go ahead with & there was no pressure from there side in fact i get the impression they turn quite a lot of people they deem not suitable away. I had a partial shave (they shave slightly into the existing hairline too unfortunatly for me lol) and roughly 1450 grafts (cant recall the exact number) placed in the corners of my hairline.

The first week of recovery is the worst, you are swollen & sore the first 2-3 days and have to be very careful not touching or doing anything (which i struggle with) sleeping upright is not great either to be honest but the after care is good and clear. I healed pretty quickly i think, my donor area looked pretty much healed after around 10 days, compliments to Dr Mani on that, scabs came off on about day 11-12.

I will upload pictures from the day of surgery and 7-10 days after below over the weekend, when i get some time for anyone who is interested but not much is going to happen now in terms of results for a few months so will update then with pics. if anyone has any questions regards Dr. Mani let me know, happy to answer but so far so good.

I had a consultation with Mani. I liked him a lot. I didn’t go with him in the end but I recognise his enthusiasm and talent. I’m sure this will be a banging result.

For too long there was only a small handful of competent Dr’s operating in the UK. Now we have some solid choices spanning right across the country.

Historically we tended to have a large number of sub par clinics operating just beneath the surface. Gaining traction through direct marketing without coming under much scrutiny. A murky business model that destroyed countless scalps.
 

Today we have an increasing number of new era surgeons who have studied the craft and become very good in their own right. Importantly they have opened themselves up to the various communities online which brings added scrutiny. Dr Mani is one of those and should be applauded.
