I am Norwood 3V with crown baldness as you can see in pictures. 35 Male from India. Do I need a hair transplant badly or can the medicines do some magic? I am planning on getting married next year. So need it definitely fix by then. Thank you. IMG20231127231513.thumb.jpg.3c70e9ac84d1660c9d961893baa621d2.jpg

probably, treamtmentns won't fix the problem at 100%.
In any case, before HT, take care of your self with minoxidil, fina etc.
If you improve your hair, you will need less grafts, saving your donor area.
And do not forget, even if you had an unlimited donor, God is the best surgeon. keep HT at the minimum possibile.

As a long term plan then meds should be considered, after consultation with you're Dr and/or a dermatologist who specialises in hair.

Yes meds can help maintain what you have and prevent further loss. However it's not particularly common to see a vast improvement, the loss you have is quite extensive in the crown in particular.

If you wanted a temporary fix then fibres would help considerably. You could try these and see how it will look.

Longer term and a permanent fix then of course you would be looking at a hair transplant. As always this should be seen as a last resort.

PS: I see some thinning over your ears.
I think that fina/duta are mandatory for you to improve your donor area

Thank you. Good observation. Even i have noticed it. I live half a mile away from Eugenix clinic in India and went for a consultation few months back with dr. arika. She asked me to take finasteride for the crown and grown long hairs for front to hide the receding hairline. If not, then go for hair transplant. One thing that put me off was that her consultation was so expensive(2000rs) compared to other doctors here in India and she literally talked for like 2 mins and then went outside. Then the conversation was taken over by medical counselor.

Thank you for the reply. I currently use fibres only on specials days like going to someone's wedding or going on a date. Daily use of fibres is too much. Expensive too and also daily it gets on my pillow.

I was also considering putting on hair patch. Just scared that nobody will pull it away lol.

let me say that a good doctor can do his diagnosis in 2 minutes.
BTW, I understand your concerns. It is fair that the doc gives you enough time to express your perplexities, to make questions etc.
I had a free consultation with a doc (I won't name her name until I will book with her) and she spent 25 minutes talking with me.

Yes for special occasions using fibres on special days such as you mentioned are ideal. Some fibres/concealers are less messy. Longer term solutions are initially going to be more expensive. A hair system will take some regular maintenance/cost. A hair transplant even more so. Did Eugenix give you a idea of how many grafts they would be looking at?

Have you also consulted with other Drs/clinics? I have always thought Medispa are pretty consistent, only the occasional misfire.

Eugenix quoted me 3200-3300 grafts over 2 days surgeries.

Yes, i have consulted other doctors and also have had some regrowth using PRP but nothing to the point where I would be satisfied with my look.

I also have tried finasteride 1mg last year for 10 days and had terrible side effects such as suicidal thoughts, sexual side effects, brain fog etc. Then i tried taking it this week as well with 0.25mg and had some slightly watery semen and randomly ball aches. So i hopped on to topical finasteride and minoxidil now. Not sure how to go the oral route.

You've some good native hair. As you're planning to get married I think you can go for the transplant and start to take those medications.
