Regular Member GratefulHead Posted November 6, 2004 Regular Member Share Posted November 6, 2004 Does anyone know if it is not recomended to take MSM immediately prior to a hair transplant? I'm going for my second procedure next week with Dr. True and his pre-surgery checklist says to stop all vitamins, herbal and other supplements, aspirin, Motrin, etc., 10 days before the procedure (Tylenol is OK). I believe this is to avoid substances that thin out your blood. I wanted to ask him about MSM specifically, but the office is closed for the weekend. Thank you. Senior Member Robert_ Posted November 7, 2004 Senior Member Share Posted November 7, 2004 To be on the safe side, just go by the Dr.'s instructions. A few days won't make any difference with MSM anyway. -Robert ------------------------------ Check out the results of my surgical hair restoration performed by Dr. Jerry Cooley by visiting my Hair Loss Weblog
Senior Member arfy Posted November 8, 2004 Senior Member Share Posted November 8, 2004 Agree with Robert, skipping days isn't going to make a difference. I'm not convinced that MSM does anything for hair, anyway. I haven't noticed anything, so maybe it works for some guys and not for others
Regular Member Old Baldy Posted November 8, 2004 Regular Member Share Posted November 8, 2004 MSM has definitely worked for me. Hair is growing faster. So are my toenails though!!!
Regular Member GratefulHead Posted November 14, 2004 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 14, 2004 Thank you for the replies Smoothy, Robert, and Arfy! I checked with Dr. True during my appointment and he said MSM would be fine to take in the days prior to a procedure. All is well at five days post-op!
