Hi - To start off, this website has been a tremendous help in being able to discuss a common topic of hair loss/hair transplant and it has offered me a lot of insight so the least I can do is write my own experience/review in hopes that it helps the next person. I'll tell you now, my experience was unlike any other, but I am incredibly fortunate I went with Dr. Bicer! To my personal opinion, Dr. Bicer is the best there is. My HT occurred in early February 2023. Upon reading through experiences and talking through video chat with the dr. I was convinced she was the best doctor for me. My immediate reaction was, she doesn't sugarcoat her answers, she tells you how it is and the best possible way to go about getting your desired results. Someone who's sincere and who truly cares for their patient. I went ahead and scheduled the surgery which I had to wait roughly a year, it was worth it.

My HT was successful at 3290 grafts with a heavy concentration on the hairline and minimal on the crown due to my young age of 26 and we played it conservatively for when the time came around for operation #2. Surgery was roughly 7-8 hours. We started by drawing the hairline which Bicer would recommend the best hairline matching your face and age. I went with her recommendation and happy with so far although its early on. They start by giving you xanax to relax you and then start numbing head essentially. They start in the back with what it feels like a stapler. It doesn’t hurt as much, others will disagree. After they fully numbed your head, you won’t feel any pain at all throughout the surgery. Every person in that clinic has an important job to do but Dr. Bicer was there every step of the way throughout the surgery. Making extraction to opening the new channels for grafts, I was extremely happy. In between you do take a break and after continue. She was there throughout the whole operation making sure you as a patient felt comfortable. If you only wanted to hear about the surgery, that’s all I have but if you want to learn more about the type of person Dr. Bicer is, keep reading.

Days before surgery I felt nauseous which continued to the day of surgery I felt extremely nauseous for reasons I was unaware of. Dr Bicer insisted I be checked by her personal medical specialist at a private hospital. Tests were done and blood work before the surgery to make sure I am healthy and fit for the surgery. She had her assistant Ozen (an incredible woman with a kind heart) drive me and stay with me for 3+ hours in the hospital for results. An action that she didn’t have to take. Upon receiving positive results, we returned to the clinic surgery began and was successfully completed. The same night following the surgery I developed an immense amount of nausea which led to vomiting for reasons I was still unaware. Alone, exhausted, and in a foreign country, it was an experience I never thought I’d go through, but once I texted Dr. Bicer about my status that very same night, she was there for me. At peak midnight she came and personally took me with her husband to the hospital for immediate evaluation which came back positive again, but I still couldn't stop my vomiting until they used a particular medicine in the fluids, which eventually calmed my condition down. Instead of driving me back to my apartment, she insisted I be her guest in her home. Something I never imagined, not only being a guest in a stranger's home, let alone your doctor's home in a foreign country. I was so out of it and exhausted that I agreed lol. The following day drove back to her clinic she gave me some medication and rested a bit. I spent the day sleeping the majority of the time as I was exhausted physically and mentally. I knew I couldn't stay the full 8 days in this condition and I needed to get a deeper check-up as soon as possible back in the states. The following night I was in bad condition once again and Bicer and her assistant were there for me and drove me again as I couldn't stop vomiting. The hospital hooked me up to the same medicine that did the trick in the first place and it calmed me down. I had a lot of visitors in that room lol from Bicer, her husband, and her 2 assistants. I needed to come back ASAP to the states as I didn't want to remain there and get stuck if it was something serious. Bicer and I said our goodbyes as I was going straight to the airport the following morning. She gave me a xanax for the trip to calm me down and get me through the long flight. Got in a cab straight to the airport, purchased a new ticket to the states the same day, took Xanax, and completed the flight without a problem.

Fast forward, the doctors found a bad stomach infection. I have been on meds and have gotten immensely better. The infection was bad and having some stress/anxiety didn't exactly help it.

In the many thoughts that I had before the transplant on how it would go, never in a million years did I think this would be my experience, never. But, I am extremely thankful to god, for putting incredibly kind-hearted people in front of me. Extremely grateful to Dr. Bicer and her husband for welcoming me into their home, and an immense thanks to her staff who are just incredible and hard-working people. If you're thinking about choosing Dr. Bicer, choose her! If you're having second thoughts about Dr. Bicer, there should be no second thoughts, choose her! Her work is exceptional and her kind heart is rare to come upon in doctors. It's a foreign country and you want a doctor who always has your best interest at heart, a doctor whose responsibility is to you from the day you land to the day you leave. And, a doctor with top-notch work.  I am extremely happy with the results so far although it's early, I can tell the results should be amazing!

Hope this helps with your decision!

Details:

- 26 Yrs Old

- Current regiment, 1mg Finasteride, biotin. I stopped Minoxidil. The dermatologist/I concluded it wasn't helping and shedding actually reduced after quitting

- 3000 grafts during the consultation, but Dr. Bicer put 3290 for extra coverage on the crown

- A second surgery will be needed to add more density to the crown, but time will tell and how my progress goes

Advice I have:

- If you can, try and get there at least 2 days before surgery

- If you can, stay at least 3 days post HT to at least recover a bit

- Select an accommodation near the clinic just in case

- Schedule a VIP pick up and drop off from the airport so you don't have to deal with taxis and extra headache

- Be sure to do a quick check-up with your doctor prior to the trip just to make sure you're healthy

Good luck and DM or comment anyway I can help

@Randomdude firstly I just want to say thank God that you chose Dr Bicer in Turkey. I don't know of many doctors (anywhere for that matter) who would have gone to lengths that she did for you. Secondly I am sorry you were sick and hopefully you are well on the mend now. 👌Looking forward to following your results! Thanks for sharing!

@Randomdude any chance of an update?

Hey - Was going to update every 3 months but sure can put some pics now. This is 7 weeks post HT. This was right after showering so it might look more red than usually is fyi.

Donor still kind of healing. I think it was a bit of shock loss on donor but nothing too significant.

@Randomdude also, do you know what the split was between crown and hairline graft wise?

Honestly can’t tell you the exact numbers for the life of me BUT the total was 100% 3290 grafts. I know the very minimum that was put on hair line was 2500+. From what I can at least remember it was maybe around 2600-2700 on hairline and the rest on crown

I’m not expecting 100% coverage on crown nor even 80% as the goal was hairline since I’m still 26 yrs i wanted to play safe route in case hair loss progresses. I think still the 400-600 grafts she put on crown should provide some decent coverage and maybe easier for toppik until next surgery. We’ll see

That sounds like the right choice to make. Just get a small amount in the crown to get a bit of improvement there and wait to see if your hair loss progresses. You may end up needing a lot of grafts for your mid scalp in the future if you lose all of that area and you want to have enough grafts to get coverage there.
