Regular Member mizmija Posted May 31, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted May 31, 2022 (edited) Hello everyone! So I am 22 y/o male who is losing hair. My dad is NW6-7. I am now probably NW2 diffuse. So I have been losing my hair for 2-3 years and I am pretty sad about it. I started topical minoxidil with microneedling in May last year and got some good results but soon started losing it again. So in January this year I added topical finasteride 0.05% and in the first two months my hairloss stopped completely and I was pretty happy about it. 2 months in I started shedding pretty badly and shedding has not stopped since - so I have been shedding for 2 months straight. Also I have some kind of itch on my scalp. So my question to you is what to do next? Should I wait for full year? I am afraid that my hairloss is proggresing so I want to add something else. But also I don’t see how finasteride can work for 2 months then suddenly stop? I thought it was shedding phase but surely shedding phase can’t last for 2 months+. So what is your advice here - should I wait whole year on finasteride and then add something else or start it right now? I am willing to start RU, Oral minoxidil and maybe try oral finasteride.(of course not everything at the same time). Thanks in advance guys. Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted May 31, 2022 Administrators Share Posted May 31, 2022 You’re currently too young for a hair transplant. I would stick with the medication. You may wanna consider laser therapy as well. I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic. My comments are not medical advice. DrTBarghouthi
Given your age and diffuse loss I would definitely consider oral finasteride and possibly Low level light home therapy. You will benefit greatly with the use of oral finasteride. Edited June 1, 2022 by Eugenix Hair Sciences
