Regular Member NickJ Posted April 25, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted April 25, 2022 Hey guys, I've had my HT 5 weeks ago today and since one week I hava a sort of dandruff/dried skin containing hairs (sometimes 5-6 ) on the scalp that fall off after showering Is this normal? My receiving area is still pretty red too
Senior Member SeanT1 Posted April 25, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted April 25, 2022 (edited) Completely normal. You're experiencing shedding. It happens around this time. Expect more hair to fall out and dandruff as your scalp heals. Edited April 25, 2022 by SeanToman

Senior Member NARMAK Posted April 25, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted April 25, 2022 If you are 5 weeks out, it might be best to ask your clinic if they are okay with you going back to regular shampoos and maybe use an anti dandruff shampoo. Rahal Hair Transplant
NickJ, Yes, this is perfectly normal. Typically, hair shedding occurs 4 to 6 weeks after hair transplant surgery but It can start to occur as early as a week or two. Also, it’s common to experience a dry and or red scalp for the first couple of months while healing. From your pictures, everything looks to be healing nicely. As long as you selected a reputable surgeon, I trust everything will go well for you. best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant 1 Rahal Hair Transplant Institute - Answers to questions, posts or any comments from this account should not be taken or construed as medical advice. DrTBarghouthi
Perfectly normal to shed and to have dandruff like material. I personally switch patients to ketoconazole shampoos 4 weeks after surgery twice a week. Just consult with your clinic to check if they are ok with that. 2 Dr. Taleb Barghouthi approved and recommended on the Hair Transplant Network. You can schedule a virtual consultation with me here. Senior Member gillenator Posted May 7, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted May 7, 2022 Believe it or not, Head & Shoulders is a great shampoo for dry flaky scalps and very reasonable cost. 1 Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic. Regular Member NickJ Posted May 18, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 18, 2022 So to keep people updated and who could have made the same mistake as I did The reason I had so much dandruff is simply that I was way to cautious when washing my hair, I kept cleaning it like this till week 6 after HT Using Nizoral twice a week and Head & shoulders and washing normally it went away, I did lose a little bit more hair but I guess you can't avoid it since I am at the 2 months mark
