I'm attaching the photos of the scabs can someone please tell if that's ok or not
Senior Member JDEE0 Posted December 27, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted December 27, 2021 Yeah, it's normal. Most people get their scabs off after about a week, so they usually don't shed as many hairs with the scabs as you have, but you're 3 weeks in and are only just getting them to fully come off now. You're now entering the shedding phase, so your transplanted hairs are really starting to fall out now, you're just noticing them with the scabs as you didn't remove them earlier. Rahal Hair Transplant
Yes, this is perfectly normal. Typically, scabs/crusts are removed within a week to 10 days and in addition, the transplanted hairs typically shed between four and six weeks after surgery. Because you still have remaining crusts three weeks after surgery which is around the time transplanted hairs begin to shed, you are seeing many of those hairs come out with the scabs. But there’s nothing to worry about. The follicles are deeply rooted underneath the surface of the skin and new hair will begin growing starting between 3 to 5 months and continue to grow and mature up to a year to 18 months after surgery. Senior Member gillenator Posted December 29, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted December 29, 2021 Scabs and crusts are two different things and should be removed when ready to come off…the reason many hairs come off is because many of the follicles have entered a dormant resting phase and shed the hair. Senior Member pkipling Posted December 29, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted December 29, 2021 After the first 72 hours, the grafts are mostly securely anchored, and there's not much you can do to dislodge them. Any hairs/scabs/crusts you see falling after the fact are just a normal part of the healing process and nothing to be alarmed about. You're in the beginning stages of it likely starting to look worse before it looks better, so keep your head up and know that results are likely just a few months away. Senior Member gillenator Posted December 29, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted December 29, 2021 This is information that would be helpful and provided in post-op care instructions so that patients will know what is likely to occur in the days following the procedure.
