Regular Member Mr Sinister Posted December 8, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted December 8, 2021 Hello Guys, ive seen plenty of cases where once multiple fut’s have been performed, patients opt for an fue. This seems natural. But are there any cases of fut after fue? Is it advisable after the donor has been depleted? the reason I ask, is because after a poor first fue, I’ve been left with minimal donor, but I’ll still need to restore my mid scalp and crown as I continue to bald. I’m estimating a minimum of 4,000 grafts. There is no way I’ll get that using fue, so I’m wondering if fut might be able to help in this case? I appreciate the strip that is removed will not be as dense due to the over harvesting, but it will surely yield more grafts. I have ok beard donor so I’m sure I can get 1 or 2k grafts out of that and I’ve been using all the non surgical methods to maintain what I have. Ive also had a few SMP sessions to the donor, but they faded quickly so I do think future surgeries will be required. pics of my donor are below thanks
Senior Member LaserCaps Posted December 8, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted December 8, 2021 Sure! It happens. Particularly when the technique used left small circle scars in the donor. FUT helped to clean that up a bit. Something else to remember is the fact that the FUT scar will likely be above the occipital notch. The patient could then fade the area below that. It is imperative you be on some type of medical regimen. If you start dipping to the point where the grafts are harvested from, you could potentially lose all those grafts. Senior Member Britanium Posted December 8, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted December 8, 2021 Depending on how short you normally have your hair, I would be careful adding in a FUT scar. It’s quite possible that with a already over harvested donor area there is going to be a increased likelihood your going to risk seeing a FUT scar ! Even if it was a pencil thin one. The last thing you want is even more scars visible. Not saying it’s not possible, just that caution would be needed. Not sure I would want to risk it. I know you also looked at donor restocking from some of the best Drs who are capable in that area. I hope you do find a reliable way to help improve your current situation. Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted December 9, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 9, 2021 I don't think an FUT would be a good idea, for one, the best hair follicles have already been harvested. You need a quality FUE specialist that can cherry pick around to find the best and most viable grafts will making your donor look more evenly harvested. An FUT would have subpar quality hair in the strip, and the scar would be hard to conceal. I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic.
