Little concerned about excess blood/clotting post-op. Thoughts?

Hey guys,

I had my op done yesterday and I'm happy with the job, hairline etc. I experienced some bleeding last night, which I know to be normal, but I'm a little concerned about the size of the clot it's formed in a couple of different places and the extent to which that will hinder/kill the growth of grafts in that area.

FYI, I've already been back to the doc this morning for bandage removal, and the parts of the recipient area where the clots/blood were significant were cleaned. However, there are one or two areas in particular that remain quite heavily clotted/scabbed. At this point, I'll let it ride it out and wait for it to come away naturally with the washes, which I'll be starting in a couple of days. 

I'm just wondeing if anybody else has had similar issues post-op, and to what extent they affected the results.

Did you email your doctor? It may be that your blood was thin, which caused bleeding. Did you drink alcohol or tea within the last 4 days?

I didn't drink either, so I'm not too sure why.

And yeah, I've followed up with my doctor (I happen to be staying down the street - convenient!), and she said that while bleeding isn't ideal (it *can* be bad for the grafts), she isn't overly-concerned. The follicles are still implanted the skin.

I'm more wondering whether from people's experience if they had a similar look post-op it has affected the results, and if so, to what degree.

If it's just some extra bleeding and no infections then I don't think it will be too much of an issue. Do you take any medication to thin your blood or prevent clotting?

Its not that bad. Did you spray your head every hour as advised? It helps.

The good news is that it's cleared up quite a bit! The attached pic is after the fifth wash, but to be honest it was only after I stopped being so delicate it with during the wash that it started to come off. Don't get me wrong, I've still been very delicate, but for the first three days' wash, I was extremely careful not to apply pressure, motion etc in case it bled. From yesterday, I started very lightly massaging the bloody areas in a gentle circular motion, both during the moisturising pre-wash and the wash itself.

 

I haven't been spraying it throughout the day as that's not what my doc advises. I'm still not too sure what the consensus is re that! I also wasn't on blood thinners pre-op, so I'm not quite sure why I responded like that. Anyway, I'm feelng pretty relieved that those clumps of dried blood haven't seem to affect the grafts. Let's see how it develops.
