Thoughts on my donor

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, been considering it for a long time and think I’m finally gonna go for an FUE this year.

Wondering what you guys think of the donor, if I’m a decent candidate. If anyone has had a similar level of balding and kind of what to expect as far as coverage. I’m 29 and been taking fin for about a year and minoxidil for about 6 months and have actually seen some regrowth.

im in California, I’ve contacted Yazdan and Carmen. Spoke with Diep and while he is the most impressive I was quoted 22k for 2500 FUE and that seems pretty steep.

thabk you for your thoughts

The angle of the picture isn't good, there is a shadow, which makes it hard to see your donor. I suggest taking a picture in natural light or bathroom lighting. From what I see it looks fine.

Okay so this picture shows a lot more, it does appear a bit sparse. Have you had an FUE before? Are you on finasteride?

I have been on finasteride for about a year. Hats kind of what I’m worried about bud. I think strip is out of the question and I’m a little nervous to take the dive and just not have enough there to end up making the top look decent. Then again I’ve seen a few doctors, Diep in particular, that have given people incredible results with a lot less hair.

This area here is the most concerning, like Melvin indicated there's a sparseness there like we see with someone that has recently, or at some point in the past, already had at least one FUE procedure. Since you haven't had any procedures before, and you've been on finasteride for a year and minox for 6 months, judging by this picture it looks like alot of your donor area is pretty vulnerable to thinning as well.

Comparing this picture with the first one you posted where you are looking at the TV, your hair is 'laying' down much better in that one, like its been combed down right out of the shower. This picture with the better lighting looks almost like you may have been sleeping or laying against a pillow and its making some of your hair stick up, maybe that's making your donor look a bit more thinner. Try taking another pic at a more level angle with your hair completely dry and combed down.

I agree, I would also suggest growing your hair longer. This looks like a #2 guard. Try to grow it out at least two inches.

So yes, I slept on it all night and put some minoxidil on in the morning which kind of makes my hairs stick together and the first picture I just dried it out of the shower. I will update the post when my hair gets a little longer. Thanks for your reply

From your pics so far, no your donor area doesn’t look particularly strong. 2500 grafts would be a wise choice ! At least you have now hopefully stabilised (improved) your current situation.
Maybe you need a in person consultation to properly inspect your donor.
