Regular Member Jimmy58 Posted December 9, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted December 9, 2020 (edited) Hi guys, On the 10/11 of August this year I had my surgery at ASMED. I’m 34 yo male, a smoker and certainly not the most athletic man. I have been suffering of a gradual hair loss since my 20s that affected particularly my front-mid scalp with receding temples and a disappeared hairline over the years. I’ve been on finasteride for about 5 years, I then stopped due to the sides (back to 2017) and started over again from few days after my surgery. I met dr Hasson in 2015 who was the one who convinced me to have an HT; he was absolutely confident to improve my immagine that I was about to book me with him the same year. I had then reconsidered this idea as I didn’t feel like going for a FUT, so I changed plan and booked with ASMED last year. I’m aware the clinic has been recently criticised on this forum for some results below patient’s expectations but ASMED has been one of the first clinic to get truly amazing results with the FUE technique, one of the few who does mega sessions still leaving immaculate donors. Every surgeon have had some bad outcome unfortunately and it’s never easy to make decisions when it comes to “You”. However I personally consider dr Koray one of the best Fue surgeon that has changed many people’s lives and I am expecting work Ethic and support if things won’t evolve as we expect. About the clinic All was marvellously organised from the pickup at the airport to the clinic service. Staff is very polite and friendly and the building looks luxurious. The whole experience was superb as they really make sure you’re all good during your stay.I know it’s not certainly the reason why I decided to go to ASMED but it is definitely a big plus. Thank you very much to the team all! My coordinator I will take this occasion to thank once again my coordinator Alessio, who normally looks after Italian patients( but not only). The good impression I had from the clinic started with his reliability and patience in answering all my queries. Very professional, he helped my through my HT from the begin til the end, explaining clearly the various phases of the surgery. We’re still in touch for every doubt that I have, so great customer service and assistance. I also want to thank Suzana for getting in touch to see how things are progressing. Pre surgery Meeting with dr Koray; he was very nice and seemed to be very professional. He looked at my scalp to better understand the Ht’s strategy and hair’s quality. We had a little chat also to understand my expectations. I then shaved my head and met him again along with the team. He designed my new hairline and discussed with the tech team the 2 days surgery ahead. The meeting with the doctor was relatively short. I assume that he sees so many patients every day with similar hair loss patterns that common strategy are used during the surgeries. Op We started around 8.30am with the extraction phase. I had a team of 4 female assistant plus two anaesthetists checking that everything was alright and painless. Two of the assistant started to extract manually the grafts with one other that was counting and separating them. Break at 12.30pm for about half an hour. Back with dr Koray doing incisions and the team again to implant them. All done by 4pm, same routine on the second day. Personal thought I am now 4 months post op and I can see some growth on the front head. I was hoping to be a little more “hairy” by now, especially in one side that looks weaker. Density is still lacking and I feel far away from where I wanted to be. However I know it’s still too early to come to any conclusions. I keep being positive as I see slow improvement on a weekly basis. I do apologies for pictures quality as I can only use my phone, so they aren’t so great! I will try to take pictures on different lighting so you can have a closer view about my regrowth. I’m on 1/4 proscar daily since August - 10 mg biotin from September- Nizoral shampoo twice a week from December. here below pictures pre/post surgery-1 month-2 months-3 months. The last three pictures are from couple of days ago.Looking forward to get your honest opinion.I will update more pics this weekend as I’ll be exactly Edited December 9, 2020 by Jimmy58

Senior Member Britanium Posted December 10, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted December 10, 2020 Looking really good at this stage! That’s a really nicely designed hairline. And wow that’s a lot of grafts you had implanted. I have no doubts this will be a excellent result. This is the beginning of the good part.

Thanks JohnAC71, I really appreciate your kind words. I will updated more pics from today, exactly 4months post op as I understand different lights play a crucial role at this stage. I undoubtedly find myself a bit hairier than the pre op, but of course I feel I still have a long way ahead to match my expectations. I felt so cheerful when Dr Koray drawn my hairline; I liked it at first go! It’s very similar to my original hairline. we first decided( during the online consultation) to split 3200 graft for the new hairline and mid scalp and 1800grafts for the vertex. The doctor changed strategy when I met him in person and I believe they implanted about 4K grafts for the mid/front and the rest on one side of the vertex. Not sure if the clinic can give a more specific grafts distribution data. However thanks again for your support and please feel free to pop in to my report to follow my hair progression ✌️

Regular Member Jimmy58 Posted January 13, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 13, 2021 Hi guys, here below my 5 month update. The improvement of my immagine is slow but progressive. Density is still lacking in certain area, particularly on the left side who’s slightly behind. It’s only 5 months since I had my surgery so I have no pressure yet to come to any conclusion and I keep being positive hoping for more grafts to regrow. Pictures are on different lighting so you can all have a better understand of how it looks like at the moment. I started I was completely bold on the front head, I have now a new hairline( still not perfect but it suits me well😚). Please guts let me know your honest opinion, at 5 months I was expecting a little more( like everyone else I believe)but at the same time I’m happy of a “better framed” face. Have a great day
Regular Member Vpac Posted January 15, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted January 15, 2021 You are still at the early growth stage so try not to worry. From months 4, 5, 6 there is usually big change month to month. Typically by 8-9 months you should have idea of your final result so just be patient and wait and see. No one can say anything because I have seen cases like yours where the hair grows out and it's a great result, others it doesn't improve much and it's a bad job. You just have to wait and see and hope for the best.
Regular Member Jimmy58 Posted January 18, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 18, 2021 Hi Vpac, as I said I can see a little and slow progress week by week, just hoping for more density. I started from a difficult situation with all front area completely empty, so I feel like I’m chasing a miracle. thanks a lot for your support ✌️

Regular Member Mario_s90 Posted January 25, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted January 25, 2021 Looking to your pictures, the new hairline becomes more and more visible framing your face very well. Pretty sure that the big improvements will come over the next weeks! Will be interesting to follow your journey!
Regular Member Jimmy58 Posted January 26, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 26, 2021 Thanks a lot Mario for your kind words! I’m getting better week by week, but gently 🤦♂️😂 I cannot manage to spot any new hairs as my hairs are longer now and they cover more the scalp. It will be nice to understand in what percentage the grafts implanted have regrowth, quite difficult info to obtain unfortunately. However I feel that 30% ( just guessing) of the grafts are still missing, so I’m hoping for better density over the next couple of months. here below a picture at 5.5 months, I kind of brushed my hairs on the front to show what coverage I can get at the moment Please feel free to let me know your honest thoughts

Regular Member Jimmy58 Posted January 27, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 27, 2021 Thanks mate, I appreciate your support! You can see in that picture that hairs are still thin on the front area; when their own volume will improve they’ll manage to cover more scalp I guess. looking forward to the next months Thank you HelpfulFriend ✌️
Regular Member Jimmy58 Posted February 14, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 14, 2021 Hi guys, here below the 6 month update! I’m generally happy with my progress, hoping to get even more improvement over the next few weeks. puctures are under direct light and a bit extreme to judge the result, but this is to better show my hair density. Senior Member ITA Posted February 14, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted February 14, 2021 (edited) From how you started, it's already a good result in my opinion. and in any case you could try to change your haircut: shorten them from the sides and back so that the regrowth in the recipient area is highlighted. Regular Member Jimmy58 Posted February 14, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 14, 2021 Thanks Egy! I absolutely agree it’s already an acceptable results. I am indeed in need to get an haircut as I didn’t manage to get one since I had my surgery in August( I just cut a bit by myself on the sides). Living in the UK didn’t help as Barbers were closed since then though🤦♂️ I recently moved back to Italy so hopefully next update I should have it done. However I look much better in person rather than in photos. Thank you for you nice words, I appreciate it!👍
