Regular Member BA-FUE Posted October 30, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted October 30, 2020 (edited) Long time lurker and first time poster. After considering a HT for years I finally took the plunge and went with Dr Arshad from The Hair Dr. His reviews spoke for themselves and location was a bonus. I'm only half an hour away. I had considered asmed clinic Dr. Erdogan in Turkey but some reviews are hit and miss. As Dr. Erdogan himself doesn't do any of the actual operation or so I understand. I had also considered Dr Acar from Cosmedica but Dr Arshad from The Hair Dr was the one I decided on.A bit of history. I first noticed my hair loss around the age of 19, 20. But after reading up on it I felt I was too young to do anything about it surgery wise. I've always avoided finasteride due to the side affects so started regaine over 10 years ago. I'm 35 now and thought its time for surgery. Hair loss had increased and I'm now probably a Norwood 4/5Back to the HTThe first consultation I had was with the practice manger over video call. She was very professional and answered my questions so I didn't feel the need to speak direct with Dr Arshad. I was asked to be at the clinic for 7am. On the morning of arrival I was met by a very smartly dressed Adam who was on reception he got me a couple of breakfast bars and a glass of water. Before it was time to go see the Dr.Once we had discussed why I had wanted the HT and he had looked through my hair he was straight forward and said I should break the surgery up in to two stages 2000 fue at the front and a year later 2000 fue at the crown. In hindsight I should have listened but being their I just wanted to get it done and opted for 3600 for the whole head ( I have a small head lol).Dr A drew on a line to show me where my hairline would be. I thought it was conservative and wanted it more lower and straighter but he explained the look wouldn't be natural and he was right. We had pictures taken and I was given two paracetamol and a diazepam. Then went to get changed into a gown and have my head shaved.Once this was done we went to the surgery room. Blood pressure was taken and I was told to lay on the bed as Dr A then began the process of inserting the anaesthetic. I'm not going to lie it was painful. Some describe it as a scratch but its a needle being pushed into your head!! Apparently I have a sensitive scalp but thankfully the pain was over quickly. I can't remember if they also injected a saline solution to help raise the skin I know this was done at the incision stage but can't remember if it was also done before extractions. Dr A started the extractions with a 0.8 hole punch I think it was. This took the whole morning and the count sheet said 531 singles 1654 doubles 1502 multiplesThen it was off for a lunch break where lunch is kindly provided. Back to surgery and its now time for the incisions by Dr A before the technicians place them inside the scalp. Three lovely ladies were working on me and all seemed lovely and professional. I was offered netflix and tried watching a movie but getting on in the day I was getting tired. The technicians did ask me to tell them if I needed more anaesthetic but I wanted it to be over that I just worked through it. Probably the last hour of the placement stage was the hardest. Definitely not the wisest of decisions but thankfully the placement pain was no where near as bad as having another anaesthetic put in. It was 7pm by the time we were done. Time to get changed into the button shirt I bought along. T shirts are not recommended as you may disturb the new grafts when you pull it over your head. I had a final chat with Dr A and some more pictures were taken before given a goodybag full of medicines for the week ahead and a months worth of finasteride. The bag of medicine comes with a really handy foolproof explanation on what to take and when. I'm on day one post op and I will try to do monthly updates. I hope I have covered everything but if you have any questions just ask. All the best on your journey.B.A. Edited October 30, 2020 by BA-FUE Title was too vague. Regular Member BA-FUE Posted October 30, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 30, 2020 Just removed the bandage and thought I would give some pictures of the donor area 24 hours post op. Was quite painful removing the bandage lots of yellowy looking stuff on it. Head still feels really tight. Hope that's normal.

Regular Member BA-FUE Posted November 1, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 1, 2020 I seem to have patches of dried blood where the grafts are. I've been spraying it with the saline solution I was given by the clinic but doesn't seem to be shifting the dried blood. I'm not sure how to remove it without damaging the grafts. Any suggestions? Senior Member Britanium Posted November 1, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 1, 2020 It’s normal for scabs to appear. They will naturally fall off after a few days or longer. Don’t try and remove them 🧐just keep using the spray as directed
Regular Member theshape1122 Posted November 1, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted November 1, 2020 Yes scabs are normal don't worry, they will probably be there until your first wash at day 7, and prob won't be fully gonne for a couple washes after! Regular Member BA-FUE Posted November 1, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 1, 2020 Thanks for the replies. It's not too much the scabs that worry me but the patches of dried blood. I will attach a picture to see if it helps explain it better. Just worried the dried blood will stop the new grafts from coming through.
Senior Member Britanium Posted November 1, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 1, 2020 No those scabs/dried blood is all perfectly normal. It won’t stop anything happening. 1

Regular Member BA-FUE Posted November 5, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2020 Its Day 8 and did the first wash today. Felt like touching a hedgehog. Very prickly and artificial didnt feel like my hair. Skin has been feeling really tight especially around the donor area. I've attached a picture of after the wash and doesn't look much different. Blood is still there in clumps. Saw one graft fall which was disappointing.
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted November 5, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 5, 2020 You need to do a better job of cleaning the area, at 8 days you shouldn’t have those blood clumps. You can put conditioner on it and lightly break up the blood and crust. 1 I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic. I wouldn't worry, by Day 8 the grafts should be firmly rooted, if any hair comes off with the scabs its mostly likely just the shedding hair and not the follicles
Regular Member BA-FUE Posted November 9, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 9, 2020 12th day post surgery and the majority of the scabbing has now fallen. So not completely gone. I've noticed a lot of hairs come out with the scabs. Fingers crossed it's an early shedding stage. I've attached a picture of what has been coming off. Dried blood mixed with an alarming amount of hair. (I've not been picking at it just washing and gently massaging as instructed by The Hair Dr.) Be truthful. Do you think its shock loss or failed grafts? Or hopefully early shedding 🤞
Senior Member Britanium Posted November 9, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 9, 2020 I have zoomed in and it just looks like hair shed, certainly not grafts.

Regular Member BA-FUE Posted November 29, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 29, 2020 Indeed! It really is the dreaded shed. Been shedding lots and still going strong. Every hair wash brings a hand full of hairs with it. The 1 month is here and it seems to be thinning out. All part of the process. I've been meaning to start on the biotin. But other than that its just the 1mg of fin. I was on regaine (minox) for many years before the HT but not used it for the past month. The recipient area is still very numb. When do you recommend re starting the minox? Below is the 1 month photo.
Regular Member BA-FUE Posted December 20, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 20, 2020 Its 9 days away from 2 months and looking more bald than ever. Looking more bald than when before I had the HT. Hopefully it will all come back 🤞
