xaion
I'm a 35 year old man who is experiencing some rapid hair loss. So I've had a receding hairline for quite some years. But in the last year or so I've lost a lot of hair on the vertex. Just in 3 months it seems like there's been a huge loss of hair. Other people have noticed my hair loss as well.Is it really normal to lose hair so fast? First pic is from July 7th and second one is from October 1st. Senior Member Britanium Posted October 4, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted October 4, 2020 (edited) The brighter light will show it to be thinner. But it does seem your heading for the High Norwood levels. A seasonal shed would also add to the appearance of further loss. Have you considered using Fin yet? To help retain what you do have. xaion
To be honest I don't know anything about all the stuff you can use. But isn't the difference shocking? I mean we're talking about just 3 months. I just wonder if my hair loss is natural, it isn't long ago that the top of the head was fully covered. Senior Member Britanium Posted October 4, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted October 4, 2020 You should see a dermatologist, they will give you a good idea what’s happening. Take another pic with the same lighting as the first pic? It may not look as bad.
xaion
Okay I have one here - I'd say it still seems like a huge loss and that's just in less than 3 months.
Senior Member Britanium Posted October 4, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted October 4, 2020 It is a big difference. I would definitely see a dermatologist/dr and find out why the loss has accelerated so much. It’s even a big difference if it was a seasonal shed/loss. You should consider Finasteride and minoxidil to prevent any further loss.

xaion
Okay I better see a dermatologist then. I thought this might be happening too fast to be natural. So it might be do to some hair disease or illness.
Senior Member ciaus Posted October 5, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted October 5, 2020 (edited) About your pics, aside from the lighting differences, in the one from July your hair looks a good bit longer all around too which would make your hair appear more dense, and its clumping together in these circled spots. If you were to have run a comb back and upward through the circled spots those hairs would separate and lay down exposing more of your scalp, making your loss comparison less dramatic. That being said, it still seems to be fairly dramatic for 3 months, so like others have said get a dermatologist to check you out, go over your nutrition, health/sleep/stress management, any other seemingly unrelated symptoms that may suggest something more serious. If it is just MPB kicking into high gear check out this guy's thread, he had a pretty dramatic loss over two years and has since managed to recover alot of it with the meds. https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/topic/52518-growing-hair-back-the-big-3-journey/ Edited October 5, 2020 by ciaus
Senior Member Future Hair Doc Posted October 5, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted October 5, 2020 That's a dramatic decrease in such a short amount of time. Any trauma or significant stressors? I would hop on finasteride and minoxidil ASAP and see a doctor. My advice does not constitute a patient-physician relationship nor as medical advice and all medical questions/concerns should be addressed to your medical provider. xaion
I have a gambling addiction which has caused quite a bit of problems in recent months not sure if it has contributed to my hair loss.
Senior Member ciaus Posted October 5, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted October 5, 2020 (edited) The addiction itself wouldn't be the issue, but if its causing alot of stress in your personal/financial life, and /or causing you to neglect your sleep and eating habits, then your hair could be suffering from that. Regular Member Myloloves Posted October 12, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted October 12, 2020 That could be the reason, gambling does comes with stress everytime we play but addiction? It's on a whole another level.
Senior Member TommyLucchese Posted October 12, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted October 12, 2020 Big difference! To put it bluntly - your funds are better off being spent on finasteride and minoxidil than going into the hands of the bookies. Addiction is tough and to have rapid hair loss as well is a very difficult situation, but you know what the solutions are. Good luck. 2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now. Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018. Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week. Andrewsaint
My doctor told me that my gambling addiction is causing hair loss very fast as gambling is causing stress in my life. I am really sorry for you and your current situation. I would suggest you speak with a good therapist and hope it will help. Another solution is to use a trusted casino like m Bit and to play a casino, not as a hobby or addiction, but to play for extra pocket money. I was addicted too and lost over 10k British pounds in 1 year. I decided that I can treat my addiction by influencing myself that the casino is my second job. I started to learn a lot of techniques that can help me win. So I gave up on casino for about 3 months until I learned some good win techniques. Now I am winning every second game on m Bit and I went +20K pounds in 3 months. It all depends on you. Hope that helps, good luck!
