Senior Member mmhce Posted March 17, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 17, 2009 After 10-14 days grafts are supposed to be secure. The only concern that is raised, are high levels of incident ultra violet radiation exposure...aka direct sunlight. Saunas have high temperature and high humidity, but not high UV radiation. Tanning beds on the other hand might be an issue. I see no problem in the sauna. As always, I would like to be corrected by the other more experienced posters. take care... Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted March 17, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted March 17, 2009 I would be supportive of steam room use after day 7, when sutures come out. Regular Member BANDIDO Posted March 17, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted March 17, 2009 Does the sauna or steam room effect normal hair in a negative way?
Senior Member mmhce Posted March 17, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 17, 2009 Does the sauna or steam room effect normal hair in a negative way? No hair is dead. I believe hair has the ability to absorb moisture, and can extend up to 25% (not too sure)when wet of its "dry" length. take care...

Senior Member mmhce Posted March 18, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 18, 2009 "does it do the hair any good? or the scalp? does it do the folicels any good?" Perhaps elevated temperatures as in the sauna room can dialate surface blood vessels and increase the blood flood in the scalp; with this increased blood flood, aid in the healing process of the surgery. This is just conjecture on my part. take care...
Senior Member AMR1 Posted March 18, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 18, 2009 Actually that's what i was thinking also that it would increase blood flow to the head, hence better healing and hair growth? 1600 grafts FUT Mr May (UK) Sept 1996 https://www.wimpoleclinic.com'>https://www.wimpoleclinic.com 1600 grafts FUT Mr May (UK) February 1998 https://www.wimpoleclinic.com 2475 grafts FUT Dr Mohammed Humayun Mohmand (Pakistan) 27th January 2009 http://www.hti.com.pk 3550 Total Grafts (3000 rear donor area & 400 from beard and 150 breast area) FUE & PRP Treatment with Dr Emrah Cinik (ISHRS), Istanbul, Turkey. 10th October 2017 http://www.emrahcinik.com/ My Blog & Hair loss website story: https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1123
Bill - Seemiller
As others have already stated - it's best to wait until the sutures are removed before using steam rooms or saunas. A sauna or steam room will not hurt your natural hair. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member Maxxy Posted March 18, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 18, 2009 My post-op instructions state not to use a sauna for 3 month, however, it doesn't say why.
