Regular Member TheKMan Posted January 26, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted January 26, 2009 Hey All - hope you all had a great holiday season and are enjoying the new year so far! I've been lazy with posting recently but have been trying to take pictures every 15 days. It's not as much fun as it was right after the surgery. These really are the crappy days. Can't wait to get the next 3 months out of the way - here's hoping there will be some good news to report at 6 month mark. Anyway, onto the 3 month update: - I feel like I'm back to my pre-op look. My family thinks there has been some new growth in the crown and the top (more density?) but after comparing my pics with my pre-op pics, I am not sure I see it. What do you guys think? - I tried looking for the scar but couldn't find it. I asked my family members to try and spot it and they can only see the fading pinkness around it. I've included a couple of pics. It's the shy kind but I'm not complaining - I buzzed with #2 4 weeks ago (during holidays) and then decided no more clippers in the recipient area until I hit the 6 month mark. Let 'em grow. Some random thoughts: Ever since I noticed the hair loss years ago, I haven't liked my own look. I honestly didn't care much for what other people thought of it...what bothered me most was my inability to restore my confidence, even when I saw it dwindling away over the years. As always, I am cautiously optimistic. But man these times are tough. So many conflicting feelings - there are days when I get giddy at the prospect of having a full head of hair again, getting them styled , looking my age (20-something) and not having to explain to shocked faces that I am much younger than I look. But there are also days when I get so frustrated at them not growing faster, and the fear creeps in - what if I'm one of the unlucky ones who doesn't get the full fledged results? I know very well that there are 9+ months to go before I can truly take stock but that thought doesn't help at all. I'm trying to temper my expectations and excitement but is it ever so tough! My work keeps me busy but I am taking on even more, like volunteering and taking college courses so I have absolutely zero time to think about this. Anyways, enough of that from me. Your thoughts and comments are always welcome. My Hair Loss WebLog - HT with Dr. Hasson

Senior Member Eman Posted January 26, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted January 26, 2009 TheKMan- You are right where you should be. Looking the same as pre-op (even though it looks a little fuller in your front two-thirds) and suffering through the doldrums stage. Like you, I was not excited about posting my 3-month results as I felt there was nothing to show and there really wasn't. That is when you start to question everything, so like I said, you are right where you should be. Soon after I posted my 3-month and 1-week, similar to yours I started to see a change. And I know it is hard to see changes especially when you are looking in the mirror everyday (many times!!). Changes will start for you soon and slowly become more and more evident. Keep busy like you have been, you are sooooo close to getting out of the doldrums stage. Then the excitement will begin for you. Your next couple of months will be the beginning of huge changes for you and we are all excited for you!! My initial HT thread: done and done!! Check it out... Bill - Seemiller
TheKman, I can only echo what Eman and imissthebarber said above. You're at that stage now where growth should start any day. But it takes time for it to grow, thicken, and mature. It's hard to be patient, but good things come to those who wait :-). Keep us posted. Senior Member thanatopsis_awry Posted January 26, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted January 26, 2009 Lookin' good, man, scar (or lack thereof) too! Can't wait to see the continued updates as it should really start looking sweet!!! ----------- *A Follicles Dying Wish To Clinics* 1 top-down, 1 portrait, 1 side-shot, 1 hairline....4 photos. No flash. Follicles have asked for centuries, in ten languages, as many times so as to confuse a mathematician. Enough is enough! Give me documentation or give me death! Regular Member Brian in KC Posted January 27, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted January 27, 2009 what are we suppose to compare it to??? (no preop photos) If you are having a hard time finding your scar and cutting down to a #2 you are way ahead of the curve in terms of healing. 3 months is just scratching the surface, you'll do great!!!
