Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted December 22, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted December 22, 2009 This fellow is a few years out from a couple of transplants by a nearby facility. He was concerned by a wide scar on the left. As it crossed midline in the back the scar was really not so bad that I felt I could significantly improve it; so we stopped just past midline. He had asked about FUE'ing the scar; so when we got done, I had him use an 18 guage needle to try to make slits in the "grissle" of the scar. It was nearly impossible towards the middle as the scar was really tough. Although FUE placement into the wide scar would likely have worked, as it was soft; I doubt if there would have been sufficient vascular supply to support grafts in the really hard part of the scar. He'll be back monthly for scar checks and possible steroid injection. He may widen again, but a deep layer hopefully will prevent much of that. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted January 11, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 11, 2010 This fellow came back in today for a one month check. He'd been concerned that he had an extruding vicryl (deep) suture, but it was only dry skin. He looks great and hopefully he won't widen at all by his followup in June. Senior Member TC17 Posted January 13, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted January 13, 2010 Looks like this is going to be a very nice revision Dr. Lindsey. Any idea as to how wide the scar was at its widest point?
