Dr. Cooley gave me an RX for Propecia. My insurance RX card did not pay a dime! Is that normal for ins not to cover propecia? Has anyone delt with this problem? CVS charged me $60 for 30 pills!

Hi!

Unfortunately insurance does not cover anything to do with hair loss. Just remember the instructions you were given in the consult and this will at least make this more pocket book friendly. Also remember that you actually have some healthy hair and that the rim could drop so..protect it. Good luck! Keep us posted.

have you heard of Proscar? It has the same active ingredient that Propecia has. It comes in 5mg pills that need to be divided into quadrants to get the approxiamte 1mg dosage. I just refilled my Proscar 30 pills , which equal 120 days, cost me $100. The added benefit is the cost plus insurance co.'s will cover this(sometimes) since it can be used for prostate meds.

It depends on your company's insurance Rx program. Most do not pay for drugs such as propecia or Viagra. My company prescription program did pay for propecia for about 4 yrs then last year they changed programs and now my propecia is not covered. However, most insurance Rx plans will pay for the 5mg version which is use in BPH. If so, then you just cut the tablet into 4ths.
