Regular Member Fueforme333 Posted August 3, 2017 Regular Member Share Posted August 3, 2017 With an FUE, once a follicle removed, I understand the follicle is gone and no hair will grow there. However, ~10-20% of follicles are dormant at any given time. Thus, can these dormant follicles eventually wake up and grow where hair was removed? I was wondering if this would help mask the scars from FUE.
Regular Member thegoalie31 Posted August 4, 2017 Regular Member Share Posted August 4, 2017 You kind of answered your own question. When a follicle is extracted, dormant or not, it is impossible for another hair to grow in that spot because the follicle is gone.
Senior Member Transhair Posted August 4, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted August 4, 2017 Not really. The extra 10% will grow out but another 10% will fall out at the same time. It won't grow exactly over the extracted follicle either, and if it was close enough to be touching it could have been transected and killed. Regular Member Fueforme333 Posted August 4, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 4, 2017 If a hair follicle is dormant and it gets transected but not extracted, does that hair grow back?
Senior Member gillenator Posted August 4, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted August 4, 2017 It most cases it will not...it may be possible that a follicle that was partially transected may grow but the quality of that hair shaft will probably be thin and/or weak.
