Senior Member jimbrann Posted July 16, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted July 16, 2017 Hi all, My hair covers my temples (how I normally set my hair), but if I have a HT for my temple regions and frontal vertex, can I set my hair as before (i.e. so my native hair covers my temples) without dislodging the newly transplanted grafts? Can grafts be dislodged due to your native hair 'covering' the transplanted grafts/recipient areas?
Senior Member Swooping Posted July 16, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted July 16, 2017 No, they won't dislodge that easy. You can hide your transplanted area with your own hair if you wish. Hi Swooping, Many thanks. But are there any complications in doing so in terms of re-growth? Is it bad for the transplanted areas to have native hair covering it? I thought maybe the new grafts won't be able to 'breathe' etc. if there is native hair covering it every day and during sleep etc. What do you think? And if there is anybody else reading would also appreciate your input.
Senior Member mattj Posted July 17, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2017 It is blood supply that is most important to graft survival, so covering the grafts with existing hair won't harm. I mean on the operation day it's important you native hair doesn't get stuck in the crusts (blood) of your freshly implanted grafts. But thereafter I see no problems at all of covering your transplanted areas with your native hair. Proud to be a representative of world elite hair transplant surgeon Dr. Bisanga - BHR Clinic. Senior Member gillenator Posted July 18, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted July 18, 2017 The new grafts will be fine. You are fortunate that you have some existing hair to cover the new grafts... Senior Member pkipling Posted July 20, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted July 20, 2017 I left the hair behind my transplanted area long the day of surgery in an attempt to be able to cover the recipient area with my longer/existing hair. It did not go as planned and I ended up just buzzing it and wearing a hat. But no, covering the hair won't impact the growth of the grafts, and I wish you better styling luck than I had.
