djlangleyy
I have been using generic finasteride 5mg for the past year, and have to cut them up into quarters and take one quarter each day. I can't find anywhere online to purchase the 5mg tablets but ant find the 1mg. anybody have any advice as to whether it will make a difference for me to change to the 1mg and save myself cutting the tablets or if there is anywhere I can get the 5mg? Senior Member skinnyshaft Posted June 18, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted June 18, 2017 I've been getting my finasteride from Dr Edgar for the last 2 years. Definitely no issue from me. Arrives quick and a very reasonable price. I'm from the UK too.
Senior Member thatoldchestnut Posted June 19, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted June 19, 2017 (edited) Go to your GP and get a prescription written. Absolutely no reason to pay the extortionate premiums involved obtaining a prescription from Dr. Edgar or similar. Bill - Seemiller
djlangley, I'm not sure where you live, but you could try calling Hasson and Wong who may or may not be able to prescribe you the 5mg finasteride tablets. I was already Dr. Hasson's patient but I imagine there's a way he could do a consult with you to determine whether or not he could prescribe it to you. Now I don't know if the 5mg are just not as readily available anymore and that's why you're having problems. I personally stopped taking any finasteride a couple of years ago. I wasn't experiencing any side effects, it was just a personal decision. That said, taking 1mg of regular Propecia or 1mg finasteride tablets is just fine, in fact its the recommended dose. Making the switch should be just fine. Best wishes, Bill

louis2008
You can do either - however 1mg is the recommended daily dose for finasteride. I used to cut 5mg Proscar up for years ( 16 )and found it easy to cut into 5ths, before upping my game to dutasteride last year. I use Dr Steve Edgar in the UK as do many users here for their finasteride/dutasteride private prescriptions. Or you can always speak to your own GP about obtaining it. Dr Edgar charges 175 pounds for 14 months supply of Proscar 5mg and 145 for 5mg Generic finasteride. He is reliable and legitimate source as many will confirm. His email address is : Drstevengedgar@gmail.com Regards Spex Excuse me, you said "Dr Edgar charges 175 pounds for 14 months supply of Proscar 5mg and 145 for 5mg Generic finasteride. He is reliable and legitimate source as many will confirm. " What is the difference between Proscar 5mg and 5mg Generic Finasteride? Isn't Proscar 5mg = 5mg Generic Finasteride?? Sorry I am not speaking English very well.
Senior Member pkipling Posted June 28, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted June 28, 2017 I used to cut 5mg Proscar up for years ( 16 )and found it easy to cut into 5ths, before upping my game to dutasteride last year. I seem to remember you mentioning this before about how you would cut the pill into 5ths. I have no idea how you did that (!!!), as I have a hard enough time getting 4 equal pieces out of mine. Maybe I need a better pill cutter... I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA.
