Regular Member JWard Posted February 18, 2017 Regular Member Share Posted February 18, 2017 As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had 3900 grafts transplanted to my hairline & mid-scalp in 2007. Even though I was encouraged to take finasteride post surgery, I found that the sexual side effects were too intense and stopped shortly after. Now at 56, with my hair thinning in areas previously grafted, I'm trying the Big 3 to try to create some density and postpone another surgery. After 4 months, it seems like I'm getting some results. Does anyone know if "older" transplanted grafts (less prone to DHT effects) can be helped by these medications? Thanks
Senior Member Spanker Posted February 18, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted February 18, 2017 I believe if you have any miniaturization it can. But more importantly, in your case, you still have a lot of native to save. It can also keep your sides from dropping. You should definitely be on it if you can handle.it. Senior Member hsrp10 Posted February 18, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted February 18, 2017 Even though I was encouraged to take finasteride post surgery, I found that the sexual side effects were too intense and stopped shortly after. Did you experiment with lower dosages spaced out more frequently? Some say this works for curbing the sexual sides and it helps in my case with the annoying sleep issues I face at higher doses. .5mg M-W-F or M-F are some examples. Just something else to consider. go dense or go home Unbiased advice and opinions based on 25 plus years of researching and actual experience with hair loss, hair restoration via both FUT & FUE, SMP, scalp issues including scalp eczema & seborrheic dermatitis and many others HSRP10's favorite FUT surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr Hasson, Dr. Rahal HSRP10's favorite FUE surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Erdogan, Dr. Couto (*indicates actual experience with doctor)
Regular Member JWard Posted February 18, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 18, 2017 Did you experiment with lower dosages spaced out more frequently? I'm doing that now.. 1.25mg every other day. Back then I didn't know this was something to try. Wish I had because the "sides" are a lot better now.
