FUT...what to expect?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to have my 2nd transplant in a few days. I had FUE about a year ago and decided to do FUT this time (w/a different doctor) to increase density. I remember when I had the FUE, the whole process was extremely painful and took a good 12 hours. The assistants (who by the way did like 90% of the work) had to give me literally like 100 local injections to get me numb, and even then I felt everything. Is FUT any different? I hear the post-op recovery takes much longer. What about post-op pain?

Also a couple days after FUE, I had really bad facial swelling. Is there anything I can do to avoid or minimize it this time?

I've had both FUT and FUE multiple procedures and the post-op pain was always worse with FUT.

In terms of during the procedure itself you won't feel any pain if you're going with a reputable surgeon but you may feel the sensation of them working to remove the strip. Anyway it goes pretty quickly. FUT will definitely go quicker in terms of the donor removal part. But you will of course have to have pre-surgery numbing injections.

Which surgeon are you going with btw? And how many grafts.

go dense or go home
