Regular Member Doflamingo Posted November 9, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted November 9, 2016 Dear community, its already 2,5 month post op and my donor area looks horrible. Few days after the op, i had a lot of hair in my donor area. It was red but there were no empty 1 inch spots like i have now. The first picture is 1 day post op. The second picture is 10 post op. The third picture is 1 month post op. The fourth picture is 2,5 month post op (yesterday). Will my hair grow back or should i start to feel really bad cause i ruined my hair with this op? Regular Member Doflamingo Posted November 9, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 9, 2016 Thank you very much spex for answering so fast. U took away my worries. I was so afraid because i was reading some stuff on "realself" and some docs wrote that u dont know wether shock loss from the donor area is permanent or temporary. Spex is shock loss in the donor area the fault of unexperienced docs and assistants? Or just a random temporary side effect?
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted November 9, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 9, 2016 Shock loss occurs when there is trauma, having thousands of grafts extracted can create trauma. Similar to the shock loss to the recipient area that occurs by the creation the recipient sites. Shock loss is more likely to occur in big sessions, how many grafts did you have extracted? if your donor does not improve by 6 months than it could be over harvesting, from the photos it looks like its been improving so that's good. I also had shock loss as you can see in this photo 1st pic 3 weeks post op 2nd pic 1 year post op I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic. Regular Member KLHT Posted November 9, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted November 9, 2016 Hey man, I'm experiencing some shock loss in my donor area as well. When you feel the need to conceal it, just sprinkle some toppik there or use dermmatch and no one will ever suspect a thing... It will definitely work imo since you've already let your donor hair grow (as per your 2.5 month post-op picture). First make sure that it is fine to do that with your surgeon but I do not see why it would be a problem at this stage.
Bill - Seemiller
Doflamingo, Hang in there buddy, you'll be fine. I know exactly how it feels. 2.5 months is prime time for shock loss. I know we tend to think shock loss will occur in the first couple of weeks and if we get past it, we won't experience it. But the "shock" from surgery takes a little while to result in hair fall. It was literally between 8 and 10 weeks (which is exactly where you are now) where I looked the worst. But after 4 or 5 months, I started seeing real improvement and was on my way. Everybody is different of course, but I expect you are on course and that you will be fine. Best wishes, Bill
Regular Member Doflamingo Posted November 9, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 9, 2016 Thank you very much guys. I feel much better now haha I did the op in turkey and when i sended them pictures from my hair before the op, they told me that they could use 4000-5000 grafts. How much they really used on that day? I dont know it cause I forgot to ask after the op and cause they told me that everything went perfect and i just wanted to go to the hotel and sleep. I was not that bald but my frontline hairs went back over the years of mistreating my hair. 1st pic - op day 2nd pic - couple days (i would guess 2000 grafts?) 3rd pic - 12 days 4th pic - today Best regards
