joseboy
So I'm finally going through with my HT. I'm going to Malaga to have it done and fly out thsi Sunday morning. I'm both excited and scared, hoping I'll get the result I want. I'll definitely get some pics up of now and get some on Monday and Tuesday. I'm going with Vinci and it's FUE procedure over two days. Looking at 2500-3000 grafts. I've quite a high hairline and it's thinning on top too, especially the crown area. Personally, I want the crown area done first and some density with the hairline only being brough forward if possible, but having not met the surgeon yet, I'm sure we'll discuss in more detail come Monday. Senior Member ModernHair Posted May 14, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted May 14, 2016 You'll do fine. Been through 2 of them now and it's not that bad. The first few nights of being careful while you sleep is the hardest part but then it gets really easy from there (well, the wait for it to start sprouting is not exactly easy!). 1,792 graft FUE with Dr. James Harris (Denver, Colorado) on April 2-3, 2015 313 graft FUE with Dr. James Harris (Denver, Colorado) on May 3, 2016 to make it perfect!!! Senior Member home1212 Posted May 14, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted May 14, 2016 good luck buddy, the nervousness and fear combined are natural feelings, I was extremely nervous but also looking forward to finally putting this thing that was bothering me for years behind me - you will feel an overwhelming sense of relief when its over (guaranteed) - and you'll see its never as bad as you think, especially with great docs and clinics, they make you feel comfortable and always attending to your needs - best wishes on your journey, its definitely worth it! joseboy
Cheers everyone. My flight out is at 7am and I'm just kinda sitting here waiting now haha. Probably won't even sleep. It's ok to drive afterwards when I return home I imagine as I'm just gonna park my car at the airport. Procedure finishes Tuesday and I fly back wednesday so would effectively be driving Wednesday evening. Anyway, let me take some photos right now. joseboy
So these are photos I've taken right now, May 14th 2016. Some donor area photos too which always grows in heavy. Only got it cut last week and it's always pretty thick. I'm sure my hair was thicker around 3 months ago but I stopped taking propecia and stopped using minoxidil too. If I had actually known how thin it was, I'd have shaved it off before now, didn't actually realise. Sometimes from the mirror you can justify yourself into keeping what you have, but from above it looks horrendous Anyway, I'm not actually sure what they could do with 2500-3000 on this head haha. Senior Member ModernHair Posted May 14, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted May 14, 2016 Are they recommending 2500-3000 grafts or is that the max you want to do? Seems to me like you'll need a lot more to get full coverage unless you're going to leave the crown alone. 1,792 graft FUE with Dr. James Harris (Denver, Colorado) on April 2-3, 2015 313 graft FUE with Dr. James Harris (Denver, Colorado) on May 3, 2016 to make it perfect!!! joseboy
They've recommended it, insisting that they'll safely take that amount of grafts over the two days without over harvesting or damaging the donor area. However, they did say they'll take the maximum amount of grafts possible. It's FUE.

Senior Member Paulygon Posted May 15, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted May 15, 2016 Sounds like you are in great hands! Keep us apprised of your progress! My thoughts: I would think about 4000+ could provide good coverage all over0. 2500-3000 would restore the hairline. I hear the crown is a like a black hole, just taking in lots and lots of donor hairs. My next procedure will be about 2500-3000 mainly for the crown. My first procedure was 2710 just for the front but it restored the hairline very well. I wasn't far from the way you look. Anyway, for me, starting at about your point: HT #1 2500-3000 (exactly 2710) to restore hairline (avoiding the crown) HT #2 estimated to about 2500-300 to focus on the crown (and maybe filling some, in bad or progressed areas of the front and hairline) Paulygon is a former patient of Dr. Parsa Mohebi My regimen includes: HT #1 2710 grafts at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration in Los Angeles in 2012 Rogaine foam 2x daily, since 2012 (stopped ~10/2015) Finasteride 1.25mg daily, since 2012 (stopped ~12/2015) HT #2 3238 grafts at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration in Los Angeles in Jun. 2016 Started Rogaine and Propecia in July. 2016 after being off of them for about a year. joseboy
So after 1600 grafts today and the front area done, I've now got a half decent frontal hairline. It could in honesty have been taken further go read but I'd have had to forego the crown and to be honest, that's always been the part I've been most self conscious about. Really hate a bald patch there? Anyway, still got the crown to go tomorrow and he said that'll be around 1000 grafts. I'm no sure what he's planning on doing but he's apparently the expert so I'll leave it to him. I'm pretty happy so far after today and I know it's a long game but even if I was to keep my hair short, id be happier now with my hairline than I was previously. I'll stick some photos up
joseboy
These are the photos. I understand I might need mor on the crown in the future but I'd rather have something that looks even than having a hairline and a bald spot, doesn't make sense to me but everyone is different. joseboy
Well it's over and I must say its been an anti climax. Only able to take 800 grafts today and a total of 2300 grafts over two days. 1600 at the front and 800 on the crown area. A total of 4500 hairs. Most of the hairs were 3s today. I know it's early days and I feel let down more by the consultant who said they'd be able to take safely 2500 and over that, that's why I went ahead with it, despite there being no guarantees. In hindsight, being an impulsive guy, I've probably rushed into it. I'm hoping the use of minoxidil and propecia again, which I've stopped taking for about 4 months now can help too. I'll sling some photos up and I'll keep a progress chart for anyone that wants to keep an eye out and is interested but I feel let down. Apparently my grafts were difficult to take due to my skin being hard and my hair being fragile. My hair ultimately will be better than it was in time as long as I take care, and I do have a better frontal hair line but I think with just a little more research I could have saved myself this feeling just now. I was really happy yesterday with the first part but I need to be honest, the crown has always been my weakness in confidence and I doubt very much that it's gonna be much better than it was with approx 1600 hairs(800 grafts)
