Regular Member Michael Vories, MD Posted February 24, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted February 24, 2016 This gentleman came in today for his 12 month follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts, with focus on the frontal forelock, midscalp, and vertex. His hairline for the most part was spared with his advanced hair loss. His hair loss has been stable for the past 8 years without finasteride. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories. Senior Member thisguy1 Posted February 24, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted February 24, 2016 You had a lot of ground to cover with 3K grafts so this is a very reasonable result. 2 quick questions - in the post op photo there was an area left bare of grafts on his right part, did you do that because he says he styles with a part? Also is there an "indent" on his head on the left frontal side? Sort of looks like it in the post op photo where he is shaved down. I think about 2k down the road will really help with some hairline reinforcement and front third density, if he is fine with the crown. But with a limited # of grafts relative to area of coverage a big change for sure. Jan 2016 - 3800 graft FUT with Dr. Konior NW 5A to 6. Docs whose results I am most consistently impressed with: Konior, Cooley (FUT), Hasson (FUT), Diep (FUE) (yeah I like the zig zag).
Regular Member mamzuka Posted February 25, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted February 25, 2016 It looks like a lot of grafts were used but I'm not seeing it in the results. For that many grafts I would expect a thicker result. The is no top shot so we can see how it looks over all. Is this what you expected doctor? Is he going to do another procedure to thicken? Regular Member Michael Vories, MD Posted February 25, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 25, 2016 These are all good points. One of things we try to emphasize to all patients is proper expectations. The reality is that 3000 grafts is not that many when considering to reconstitute the area of this patient's hair loss. The patient is very happy with the results, although we did discuss thickening the part line and some of the vertex with a second procedure. We feel much more comfortable doing this with a second procedure, when we the capability of assessing the donor and making sure a second procedure is feasible. Thanks for the comments!
