will this happen? is it a possibility? thats why I am thinking of taking both at the same time, also I hear its more effective anyways but I am wondering if anyone has actually lost the success they had with fin because they switched over to dut and stopped fin.

I also doubt that would occur since the mechanisms by which they work are the same.

If you plan to use both, you may want to try adding just .5mg dutasteride a week to your normal finasteride regimen. An article published in the Australian Journal of Dermatology showed that this dramatically increased hair growth in a 47 year old male who had experienced loss of density after 4 years.

Check out the following thread about this.

David,

Thank you,

Interesting how this combo Meds works for some & not others.

I guess if you feel that the Fin is not working so good say after 1 or 2 yrs then maybe try just 0.5 of Dut a wk but if i did that, I think ill drop 1 day of Fin though but only on the advice of your Dr that is.

For some reason, I lose hair on Dut and more or less stabilize on Fin. I tried both at the same time and still lost hair. Dut is simply not for me I suppose. No side effects, just lost hair.

I switched several months ago and haven't experienced any loss. However, any kinda significant hormonal change can trigger a telogen effluvium which is normally temporary. This would normally occur 3 to 4 months from switching drugs and lasting about 3 to 4 months.
