Why isn't Mr Ball on here?

Hi all. This is my first post so firstly I would like to thank everyone for the forum and wealth of information on here.

I'm 34yrs and Norwood 6, based in the UK. I've been researching to have my transplant and was initially keen on a FUE but I have been advised against this from several clinics in UK, Belgium and Turkey as my donor isn't dense enough for this. So I've decided on FUT, around 3500+ grafts. I like some of the work I've seen from Mr Ball from Ziering London, especially on those who are Norwood 6.

My question is why isn't Mr Ball one of the recommended surgeons on here? He has some good results and feedback from another well known UK based hairloss experience website and people do recommend him on there. He is a member of the IAHRS. So why isn't he on here? Am I missing something on him that I should know about? Is there a very vigorous process before a surgeon is recommended on here that maybe he didn't pass?

Ps I know some have a negative perception of Ziering but this Q is about Mr Ball specifically as a good quality transplant surgeon.

Thanks

I have seen some good results from him on that other hair site you are referring to...he may not be recommended here because the clinic he works for don't wish to pay the membership fee....who knows? Being recommended here is not a prerequisite to being a good surgeon, the best FUE doc on the planet (Lorenzo) being an example of this as he is not recommended here.

If recommendation by this community could be purchased by anyone willing to pay a sponsorship fee our recommendation list would have quadrupled years ago and then the forum would have ceased to exist once everyone realized that those recommendations were worthless.

Yes, recommended physicians pay a sponsorship fee in order to support the astronomical costs of running a collection of sites that this. However, recommendation cannot be bought.

Physicians may express interest in recommendation or we may become aware of a physician performing world-class hair transplantation via a referral. If the work looks good the doctor is invited to post results on the forum for members to evaluate.

Once we feel that the surgeon has presented adequate examples of his or her work the doctor is presented for potential recommendation and we solicit feedback from members and recommended physicians. If the community votes for recommendation then the doctor is added to the list.

Many physicians don't make it past the initial screening.

Our recommendation criteria can be viewed here.

I am not aware of Dr. Ball expressing interest in recommendation.

never heard of him. there are plenty of good quality surgeons around the world that aren't recommended here. maybe he shud post some of his results here more often so ppl know who he is.

apparently you haven't done much research cause there are FAR better choices them him within a couple hours flight of you and I'm sure FAR cheaper too.

I don't understand this.

Surely fue has potentially more yield than fut?

I always thought this as well, but I think fue doesn't have a better yield in patients with less than average donor or fine hair quality..hopefully I said that right If wrong I apologize..it does seem like defending/bashing fut has been more aggressive these last few months,it's obviously more appealing when you hear of minimal scarring and quicker healing time, but there also has to be a reason all these top notch surgeons are still pressing fut..it's all over this forum though, everyone is different and i don't think that should be taken lightly,if you have one of these recommended surgeons on this forum close by what's a consultation going to hurt a potential patient? Even if your charged a fee,as useful as this forum may be you'll see it time and time again nothing is better than a quality h.t specialist opinion

Thanks for the replies. I have done some research tbh.

Yes this is now my understanding. I emailed close up pics to Dr Doragnay and Dr Erdogan in Turkey who both declined FUE for me as my density is below average.

I emailed Dr Bisanga who also felt my donor was below average but advised I could have FUT with him but in total I would need 5000-6000 grafts, so probably over 2 procedures.

I had a consultation with Mr Ball and he advised FUT also and gave similar advice to Dr Bisanga. He felt it was realistic to get 3500 grafts from the first session and this would cover the frontal area but not the crown, which could be dealt with by FUT 12 months later.
