Towel Drying Hair?

Related to my last post - do members typically towel dry their hair, in the recipient area or donor area, either or both?

Of course I don't do it vigorously but I lightly towel dry my hair after showering, before I comb it -

Is this recommended?

Thank you! FK

Are you talking specifically in the first few weeks/months after surgery or in general once it has grown in? I have always towel dried my hair out of habit more than anything and I see no reason why you should not. Of course you need to be very careful in the first few weeks and more pat it dry.

I'm 10 days out now...the first few days I very gently towel dried but after day 7 I pretty much did my normal routine which is to towel dry but not too vigorous. I wasn't worried anything would happen, especially since my Dr. said okay to wash hair normally at day 7.

That said, the numb sensation on the top of my head is pretty strange!

Thanks for these great replies -

I'm 3 months removed from surgery I just mean generally - will towel drying cause hairs to come out or fall out or is probably OK once hair has been established?

If anything, some would even say this is superior to blowdrying your hair, as the heat from the blowdryer can sometimes damage the hair depending on how long you expose the hair to the heat and how hot the air gets. (It won't damage the root/graft itself, obviously, but it can affect the health of the actual hair). I always towel dry mine first then finish it off with a quick blow dry. It just seems to style better that way for me.
