This patient had a high donor density and good donor laxity. Both are needed to get a yield of 4,000 FU’s.

His donor density averaged 100 FU/sq cm. The majority of our patient’s donor density averages around 80 FU/sq.cm. Also he had good donor laxity. I could take out 1.8 cm wide strip in the middle safely and still get an excellent closure.

I would say that only 10% to 15% of the patients who present to our office with Norwood type VI balding have donor that could yield 4,000 grafts.
