Regular Member harry1 Posted December 28, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted December 28, 2014 Hello, I'm going to be using the quartered Proscar 5mg strategy so I need to find a good pill cutter/splitter. Have you used any that you would recommend? I checked out 2 popular ones on amazon but some reviewers complained that the splitters crushed the pills or split them 1/3 x 2/3. Not sure if that's a common problem with most pill splitters or if you can recommend a good one that avoids these problems.

Senior Member home1212 Posted December 28, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted December 28, 2014 the one I bought from my local for a few bucks CVS works just fine - its splits my pills and does not crush them and I didn't have to order online or wait for it to be shipped
Senior Member pkipling Posted December 30, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted December 30, 2014 I just got a cheap one from Target as well. The pills don't always cut perfectly evenly, but it's not enough to make a difference. The general recommended dosage is 1mg a day, and since a perfectly evenly cut 5mg pill would be 1.25 mg, you have a little wiggle room. Some days a tad more, some days a tad less - but always right around that 1mg/day mark. I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.
