hairlover82
Hello, Recently I join this forum to get some insights on my hair loss issue. I have been loosing hair since 10 years or so and finally have decided to do something about it. I have tried Herbal oil theraphy but didn't see any significant results. So I'm thinking about to going for Hair Transplant surgery. I have attached some pictures so you guys can get some ideas. By looking at pictures how many approx. grafts would i need to cover my head? Any advice, suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Senior Member 1978matt Posted July 22, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 22, 2014 I'm sorry to say that I don't think you are a great hair transplant candidate since your hair is diffused all over the top and your donor density does not look great (possibly miniaturising as well). Your best bet is to try to hold on to what you have with finasteride and minoxidil. It could regrow some lost hair or at the very least keep what you have left. 4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013 1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018 763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020 Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day
Senior Member london81 Posted July 22, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 22, 2014 mmm it's always hard to tell but I's say 4000 grafts would give you a good result. At a guess!
Senior Member london81 Posted July 22, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 22, 2014 The donor at the sides of your head looks quite thin but that could be because of the light. I think medication would help you retain the hair you have. I would send your photos to some HT clinics recommended on here and see what they say. The only real way to know is if you go and have it checked in person before booking anything. Good luck with it all.
hairlover82
Thanks for the replies. I just got hair cut yesterday and all these pictures are taken today. when hair grows on sides it is quite thick, at least thicker than top scalp. I'm planning to see the Hair transplant surgeon to see what he suggests.
Senior Member Cryingoutloud Posted July 23, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 23, 2014 Have to agree with 1978Matt. Diffuse thinning on top and what looks like low-density on the sides. There's another thread here with a patient with a similar balding pattern to yours. In fact, his wasn't as far gone as yours. He had a strip procedure and ended up regretting it in a BIG way. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/173454-poor-result-coalition-surgeon.html He blamed the surgeon but he was warned about his diffuse thinning and the risk of shock loss before the surgery. Some people just don't have the right characteristics for this type of surgery. Anyway, good luck
