FUT Advice

Hello All,

I’m based in the UK and was originally looking at going for FUE. I had 1 assessment with Crown clinic and they said they could do FUE but in all honesty the assessment was rushed and I just didn’t have a good feeling with Crown.

I then went for an assessment with Dr Bisanga from BHR and found him to be pleasant , very professional and gave an honest assessment. He advised that I would be best to go for FUT as my hair has diffused loss and I wouldn’t have enough in the donor area for FUE.

At first I was gutted because I had my head J set on FUE, but now I’m warming to FUT

My concerns are really around the recovery so the scar it leaves and how long post op is this visible for ?

my concern is going back to work with the scar to be honest ( I know it sounds silly )

has anyone got any advice from FUT in terms of recovery time etc?

also if anyone has got any feedback on Dr Bisanga that would be great

ps what’s everyone’s feeling on exercise after FUT, the guidance I’m reading is saying 3 months

> Norwood classification: diffused nw4v.

> Hair Characteristics:

> Donor Density: Measured in 3 areas as 60/60/65 Follicular units per cm2

> Laxity:1.7

> Miniaturisation: 15 to 20 percent

> Recommendations:

> 35cm x 1.7 x 62 approx 3500 grafts

You did good to avoid them!

Dr. Bisanga is excellent & very capable. I'd listen to his advice but I'd also maybe consult with another one or two quality surgeons like Drs. Feriduni, Koray, Rahal, Konior etc.

Okay I'm 6 weeks post op. FUT. Until now I have shock loss on the sides, especially the left side. I conceal it really well by using the nanogen pencil. I had about 30 days away from work.

The scar won't show once it's fully healed as long as you don't cut your hair down to I'd say less than a number 3. Or at least that's the case with me, but depends on you skin colour & density on the sides. Most of us are terrified of the scar but it doesn't show when done by a top surgeon & you have reasonable length & don't plan to shave your hair down really short. I think FUT yield is generally higher & more successful than FUE but this very point doesn't get discussed often anymore. Is yield success now the same for FUE as it is for FUT? I'm not sure.

3 months might be a bit over the top but I'd avoid weight lifting for at least 6 weeks. I plan to stay away from the gym for a total period of 10 weeks from post op time.

I felt 8 weeks was probably the best time until intense workouts but you could do moderate stuff from 3-4 weeks. I'd personally forget about really heavy weights for 6 months. About 6 months was the time I felt the scar was 'there' and really healed.

I'm not sure how good Bisanga is at hiding the donor scar. I'd make sure I had DermMatch and Nanogen to hand to help disguise it.

Thanks for the reply… 6 months wow..did you have FUT? If so how many grafts?

I train everyday so this is going kill me although if I can run after 8 weeks that’s not so bad

Also why did you go FUT rather than FUE if you don’t mind me asking, with me I think it’s my density that’s the problem

I was told that I couldn’t put concealer on for 3 months? Do you think that includes the scar?

Dutch

Thanks again for your mail

Do you mind me asking why you went to Canada for the operation rather than Europe?

I would have loved to have gone fue but from my figures I don’t think im a good candidate

Feriduni or Bisanga I don’t think its much in it although you are correct I sh0ould consult Feriduni

Gents thank you for your replies much appreciated

No problem at all.

Chose to go to Canada because I truly believed that my doctor was the best in the business & I still do.

I also wanted a big session done & I wanted to see a lot of great results & happy patients. No clinic showed as many clear pics & videos as H&W & even now that's still the case. Now even in HD too. It just made me feel at ease seeing hundreds of photos of top quality work. I researched for hours every day for a year. So you have to go with your gut feeling & pick wisely. You seem to be on the right track. It all comes down to picking a surgeon that's been around & has buckets of experience.

I'd avoid the gym for a while post op.
