Hi,

I recently concluded with a hair transplant surgery and its been just 1 week now

Now i am at a stage where i am suppose to start the medicines , Fin (oral Pills ), Biotin, and Minoxidil 2%.

I am scared to death to take Fin pills considering the side effects it is known for. As far as i am concerned, i have a very healthy sexual life , horny as hell and don't want to ruin it and for the other matter of fact, we are planning for a baby and i am completely confused about this !!!

Is it just fine to continue with Biotin and Min and get off with Fin completely ?

I would'nt have gone for surgery if i had to be on this dreaded medicine, even though few reports says that the sides vanishes once the dosage is stopped completely. However i feel its a risk in the first palce.

There are posts where few patients have expressed drastic side effects post consuming the first pill of Fin...

I am scared...need help pls

How many grafts did you have done and what was your level of baldness/thinning before the procedure?

If you're concerned about using Fin then don't start until you feel comfortable or just don't use.

MSM and biotin will help your native hair grow but will do nothing to combat MPB hairloss.

go dense or go home

I've been taking Propecia (Fin) since 1997 and have had no sexual side effects. I've also conceived and had a healthy child in that time. The risk is minimal.

Here's what Dr. Cooley (a recommended surgeon on here) recently said about it:

I think Finasteride is safe and effective for most guys even when taken for many, many years. Is it perfect? No. A small number of guys will have side effects when taking it, and will decide to stop it. We may have much better medical/biologic/cell based treatments in the future, but for now, it is the most effective way to save your hair.

3,425 FUT grafts with Dr Raymond Konior - Nov 2013

1,600 FUE grafts with Dr Raymond Konior - Dec 2018

Actually the doctor has prescribed Fin only for 5 months and not anymore.. So when i stop it, the effect it had while using it will eventually be lost... so instead why not be on Min, Biotin and other vital minerals and vitamin tablets .. jus a thought.. i could be wrong

Glad to know that you never had any side effects... i think it has to do a lot physcologically as well.. i mean after taking the tablet, if one keeps thinking abt sexual disorder, he is bound to get one.. its all in the mind.. but there is some amount of risk and that keeps lingering around...

Its just that when i read about all the horror stories on the net, law suit action by one guy, destroyed life etc... it still is scary to me..

Thx fr ur response

Yeah, this kind of worries me the "5 months only" part.

I'm not sure if he's trying to padd added results to his own work (HT plus FIn will give an added wow factor), prevent shockloss or some other reason ??

My two surgeons do recommend it and also staying on it.

You may want to check with him why recommends only using for such short time.

In order to properly evaluate your response you need to give it at least one year.
