Senior Member Julius Posted December 20, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted December 20, 2009 Is there anything that blocks the androgen receptors in the hair that can be taken orally that is mild and would not produce gyno? Would a very low dose of oral spiro do this?
Bill - Seemiller
Julius, I assume you're referring to oral alternative antiandrogens to Propecia? Oral Spironolactone is typically only reported effective in high dosage and comes with risks of some dangerous side effects. Saw Palmetto, Nettle Root, and a few others are considered antiandrogens however, they're not proven to stop hair loss. You could always consider topical antiandrogens such as ketoconazole, Xandrox (which also includes minoxidil), Revivogen, or Crinagen. Best wishes, Bill
Dr. Glenn Charles
Most of the time the Gynocomastia is related to elevated Estrogen levels. You could consider taking a mild Estrogen blocker to prevent this negetive side effect.
