Regular Member TOharbourfront Posted January 31, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted January 31, 2014 Im coming up to two weeks post op and finally getting around to posting all the pics from my trip to Dr Doganay clinic. the breakdown of the grafts are as follows: Single hair grafts: 850 Double hair grafts: 1250 Triple hair grafts: 400 TOTAL 2500 grafts. The DR said 400 grafts into my scar, 400 in the temples, 600 into the crown and the rest in the front portion to beef up hairline. Also he lowered my hairline very slightly about 1 cm to get the proper angle on the hairline grafts. Travelling from Canada for the trip over was quite long, 2 flights, total time about 15 hours. Once I landed in Antalya I was met at the airport by staff from the clinic who drive me to the hotel. Honestly I didn't really venture out into the town since I arrived in the evening and was to be at the clinic for 8am. Hotel was fine, there is a buffet dinner that is included in the stay, food was decent. Wifi was included which was great so I could communicate with my partner back home and kill some time with my ipad. The staff picked me up from the hotel at 8am the following morning, I was told to bring my luggage as I would be staying at the hospital after the procedure. Once we arrived at the hospital I was shown my room, standard hospital room. I was told the doctor would be in to see my in a few hours, again the free wifi in the hospital kept me occupied. Meet Dr Doganay around 10am where we discussed my goals and options, he drew the lowered hairline and the new temple points, noting too aggressive as I wanted. The is a person on staff who translates for the dr and the other staff members. Then down to be shaved have some pic taken and start the extractions. The numbing shots are painful but are obviously necessary, you kinda have to grin and bear it. Once the freezing kicks in theres almost no feeling while the techs do the extractions. Total time id say was about 2.5-3 hours. After that back to the waiting area briefly to wait for the Dr again. The implantation is done is a separate room, they put you under sedation for the entire procedure. Something I wasn't expecting but was more then welcome, I actually woke up towards the end of the procedure which I was told was a first for the staff. Even though I had my eyes open there was no pain and I was still quite groggy. After the procedure the staff took my back to my room for the night and gave some pain killers and some anti swelling pills that I was supposed to start taking the next morning. The first night I may have slept about an hour, it was very uncomfortable, I brought a travel pillow was a godsend and the hospital bed really helped since it was adjustable and I put the back almost fully upright. The staff came to get me the next morning around 10 am. At this point I was in quite a bit of pain in my former scar. I saw the doctor again and told him I was in pain, he was surprised about this but said it was die to the scar tissue. The staff gave me a shot of pain killers, which was great, lasted about 24 hours. Then the staff washed my hair for the first time and gave me the my meds for back home and lotion and shampoo and instructions. I saw the doctor one final time to ask some follow up questions, he told me everything went well with the procedure. The staff then took me back to the original hotel, not much to report about that. Same as the first experience. The staff also gave me an oversized nike bucket hat to wear at the airport. The staff picked me up at 130 am to take me to the airport for my early morning flight. The flight home was quite long about 22 hours travel time with 2 connecting flights. I opted not to wear the bucket hat and I wore a bandana instead. Going through security was not fun but you gotta do it. I made sure I had nothing on me that would set off the scanners and I took my bandana off just before walking through the metal detector and put it right as soon as I was through. Total I had to go through 5 security checks and 2 passport controls. Mostly no one noticed as I was going through security as everyone is too busy emptying their pockets. I didn't anticipate having to go through so many security points but after the third one I just held my head up high and smiled. When I was back in Canada I told the customs person that I had a HT. He was cool with it and didn't make me take off the bandana and asked me a few questions about the procedure but was very friendly. Thats about it as far as the travel and op experience goes. Im about 2 weeks post op now and all the scabs are gone and have redness on my temples and in the donor area. Scabs starting falling out about day 5 and were totally gone by day 11, very itchy experience and Im glad that's over. Some hairs came out with the scabs which i know is normal and some of the transplanted hairs are starting to shed I think, which is kinda scary because you always think you did something wrong. I slept with the airplane pillow for the first 4 days, the scar was still quite uncomfortable and slowly day by day the pain was less, advil was a great help. Sleeping was the most uncomfortable since I had grafts on all sides on my head and was hard to find a spot to sleep. Tips for anyone that is thinking about going to turkey, bring an ipad or something to kill time since theres lots of down time. Bring a hat that is quite large. Bring a bandana, it was a lot more comfortable then the hat and it was easier to take on and off. Also try to take as direct a flight as possible, the 2 connections were a hassle but its all I could mange in the timeframe. any questions about Dr Doganay or anything you can post here and Ill try to answer it. Im sure I forgot something. Cant wait for the results but I know its a long way off, Ill be happy once the redness fades and its not noticeable that I had an operation. Senior Member hsrp10 Posted January 31, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted January 31, 2014 Excellent write-up, looking at one of the Turkish docs for trying to fill in my old Bosley scar, Doganay seems to do solid work. Looks like you had a lot of grafts in the frontal third as well, should be an awesome result! go dense or go home Unbiased advice and opinions based on 25 plus years of researching and actual experience with hair loss, hair restoration via both FUT & FUE, SMP, scalp issues including scalp eczema & seborrheic dermatitis and many others HSRP10's favorite FUT surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr Hasson, Dr. Rahal HSRP10's favorite FUE surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Erdogan, Dr. Couto (*indicates actual experience with doctor)

Regular Member TOharbourfront Posted February 5, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 5, 2014 the dr used 400 to cover the scar, I surprised at how little he used but hes the expert. The plan was to use beard hair but we went with regular donor hair instead. I cant wait until it comes in to see the difference Ht #1: sure hair for men 21 years old unk amount of grafts. waste of money Ht #2: 2005 with FUT with Dr Armani. Regular Member TOharbourfront Posted March 24, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 24, 2014 my temples are still red but I decided not to care about that. also no one mentioned anything to me about it. I had about that time off after surgery as well about 25 days. I will say that the donor area was quite red after that and thin, I guess what people refer to as shock loss. I used toppik on the back which was a life saver, couldn't have gone back to work without it. Also used dermatch on top for my own well being but the top would have been fine without. Good luck with your surgery Ht #1: sure hair for men 21 years old unk amount of grafts. waste of money Ht #2: 2005 with FUT with Dr Armani. Don't remember the amount of grafts.
