Regular Member quackhairny Posted November 29, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted November 29, 2013 My hairline is definitely receding and I would say probably a 2a, stage wise. I have seen six different hair transplant specialists. Each, except for one has said they think I am not a candidate at this time. Despite that, my mind obesses and I continue to pursue a solution. Therefore I am interested whether anyone has taken the approach of getting the alleys and the receding section filled in, but over time. This would most likely involve several visits but would be easier to disguise. I would imagine this would have to utilize fue, but was wondering if there are any success stories of someone doing as such. I somehow envision the future of transplants heading in this direction and would appreciate any thoughts/comments.

Senior Member hsrp10 Posted November 30, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted November 30, 2013 How old are you? Did they refuse you because of your age? Is there something non surgical you can do now to make it look better? Cutting the sides very short and letting the front a little longer etc? Regular Member quackhairny Posted November 30, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 30, 2013 I am 44. There were varying opinions. For example one surgeon said that my hair was too thick to try and match--meaning if he were to try and fix the receding it wouldn't match the thickness behind it..but I have definitely receded a good 1.5-2 inches, and it is not stopping. I have been on propecia for 15 plus years--did really well and just in the last 3 years I feel the shedding is brutal. I can just feel it receding and thinning out and the minoxidil seems to be making it sooooo wispy. But I assume it would be worse off without the minoxidil. Another surgeon said that I was too "mental" about it and needed to see a therapist...lol.
Senior Member hsrp10 Posted December 1, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted December 1, 2013 Where are you located? I recommend talking to or if possible visiting Dr. Konior in Chicago. If you need any help, Spanker on this forum is their online rep. Have you done the research about the recommended surgeons on this forum? If so are these ones rejecting you? go dense or go home Unbiased advice and opinions based on 25 plus years of researching and actual experience with hair loss, hair restoration via both FUT & FUE, SMP, scalp issues including scalp eczema & seborrheic dermatitis and many others HSRP10's favorite FUT surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr Hasson, Dr. Rahal HSRP10's favorite FUE surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Erdogan, Dr. Couto (*indicates actual experience with doctor)
Senior Member MAGNUMpi Posted December 1, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted December 1, 2013 It's good you found this forum. I would say don't rush into anything and keep posting and researching. I have seen many cases of people getting little FUE sessions. I don't see why that wouldn't work for you, unless you would be implanting into a place where there is a lot of natural hair and you might lose some to shockloss etc. Time is your friend. Don't rush into a HT until you have all the facts. I have been on propecia for 15 plus years--did really well and just in the last 3 years I feel the shedding is brutal This worries me a bit. Are you saying that you have noticed that Propecia has gradually lost if efficacy for you?
Regular Member quackhairny Posted December 1, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 1, 2013 Thanks for your responses. Magnum--the propecia has definitely lost its efficacy for me. I really did well in the beginning but now it appears it can't keep up with the hair loss progression. Very frustrating, given the side effects, to continue to take, but i have to in order to maintain what I can. I have also been using minoxidil more and more on the receding section and at times I am convinced it isn't helping but after reading people here discontinuing and wishing they hadn't, I so continue. I hate the wispy look it gives.

He is a perfectionist and a top HT Doctor and could tell you what you might need regarding a HT. Also if you posted some pictures of your loss, some people here on the forum could give you some good ideas on how to move forward. Good luck. M. Senior Member Spanker Posted December 2, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted December 2, 2013 Personally, I think that 44 is a great age for "tweeks" on those that have minor loss. Like it has been states, consult Dr. Konior with your specific expectations of the surgery and see what he he says. I can't promise you that he will work on you, but if your expectations are reasonable and you are 44 with a 2A loss, you sound like a very reasonable candidate. Edit: I noticed your multiple FUE procedure approach and I am not sure Dr. Konior would be the person that you do that, but you can still consult him and see what he says. I really don't see a reason not to do it all in one procedure the first time as 2A patients can often hide their procedures. I am an online representative for Dr. Raymond Konior who is an elite member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians.
